Post O Levels

Hi everyone, I have just received my O Level results recently and the following is my results.

English: B3
Chinese:A1
Science:B4
Combined Humanities:B3
Geography: A2
Mathematics: E8

As you all can see, I failed my Math and given that it is an E8. It would be near impossible for me to even gain entry into local polytechnic via DAE. I have always set my heart on doing A Levels, and honestly I'm not so keen on a polytechnic education. I worked hard for my Math, but I think it's not effective and I really would like to give myself another chance. However, I would like to retake my Science and Combined Humanities as well. As I believe I have the potential to secure an A1 in both the subjects, and I didn't managed to do so is because I did not study throughly enough. However, i was wondering if I should really retake O Levels or just go to a Polytechnic if I get in via DAE.

Don't give up hope yet . I would advice you to head down to every single poly to express your sincerity in joining them. Ure 19 for your l1r4 , cfm got some course will take you in for sure one , just not math dependent uh. Ask yourself , where do you wanna go ... both a level / poly will still get you to poly ultimately. However , if u have a career related course in mind , I think ITE is considerable for you as well. I screwed up my English and math , both D7 and I'll head down tmr to every single poly and appeal for a slot. You might wish to recheck your math results as well . $112 per subject , but if I were you , I would take the risk since your l1r4 is pretty good. Oh yeah you can try appealing for NYP's marketing? What's your CCA grade TS?

I always wanted to do A Levels, I'm a Sec 5 student. My CCA grade is B4, didn't really attend CCA until like Upper Sec .........

Head down to every single poly and see what courses you can get in.

That's a viable idea but not an efficient one tbh. Why Not just give your best in whatever courses you are studying and try to get a close to perfect GPA for it? All in all , Uni still look at your GPA and not your 0 level results anyways. Why waste the time retaking?

Currently I'm in J2 this year. If you really set your sights on A's be prepared for a really tough ride. Content wise, Arts Stream will be a lot heavier as opposed to Science stream, and of course science stream is quite math dependent. Would definitely recommend you to retake your Math paper if you are really keen on going a JC/MI. But other than that poly is a decent choice too.

Local uni will look at yr olvl result also if u r frm poly.20% olvl 80% gpa results.so yep haha but if u r in poly n retake olvls quite hard uh.i got a fren,admitting into poly next month and retaking eng and emath.dk how she will do sia

Congratulations on getting into poly. Actually I think that not getting into JC might be a blessing in disguise. Although it may sound impressive to enter a JC, I was in one, I don't find it impressive and I've never liked it. The academic schedule is really packed and you really have to study a lot to excel (and sometimes I wonder how those stuff I've studied applies to me irl tbh. Like... why would I want to know what is the equation or point where 2 planes meet?). May your dreams come true.
