Post polytechnic education

Hello everyone! i'm currently a year 3 polytechnic student graduating very soon. I currently have a gpa of 2.89 and will probably graduate with a gpa of 2.9x - 3. Well, obviously i'll not be able to enter a local uni with that pathetic gpa. I got an 18 for my olevels but got a D7 for my math... Now the question is, with my grades would i be able to enter Unisim? or is the Double Major in Web Communications and Marketing from Kaplan by Murdoch University a good choice? May i have some advice from the experienced hardwarezoners here? Any advice is appreciated!!

yes you'll probably get in , but tru appealing I Guess. But overall , they'll still look at your GPA and then your 0 level results , no matter how good you did for your 0's , as long as You screwed up your gpa ure dead. I would advice you to retake another year if it's possible , no point spending so much money for a private degree as Not all marketing firms are gonna accept it lol. Retaking your math might be a plus , but they'll still take your gpa into account heavily.

Hello! Thank you for your reply. Its impossible for me to retake poly another year since i cleared all the modules and achieved the credits that is required to graduate x.x cos i was thinking if im able to get into Unisim's Supply Chain Management with Marketing Minor i would definitely go that path instead of the Kaplan path

Both ways works just as well. If I'm not mistakened , business sectors don't really care about where you obtain your degree from right now , the earlier you get your degree the better , cus you'll hav more exp over time and firms would definitely take that into account as compared to which uni you're coming from. Just grad as fast as possible and get Exp over time and ure good to go. However your starting pay would definitely be lesser then normal graduates.. that being said I'm just a kid who screwed up his 0 levels and is researching the fastest and most reliable to enroll into a local uni. Wish to do degree in finance as well

Hi there,

If you are looking to enter the workforce in the marketing or comms field (meaning business-related area), where your degree comes from really doesn't matter, as long as its a real degree from a real university.

Given your current GPA (we don't know what is your final GPA yet), you really shouldn't have any problem entering either SIM or Kaplan.

However, I would recommend SIM.

I am able to say for sure whether or not you can enter the local unis as well, but you may try.

As long as you ensure the qualification you are studying for is useful to you, it's a good plan.

Be prepared to study hard and be disciplined. It'll be like poly but might be worse because of the age range of people studying at Kaplan. Sometimes it's not just about what the program offers, it's about what you will do/how you will respond.

uniSIM has lots of subsidies for singaporean but it's a local degree.
SIM ge provides overseas degrees like uol or rmit but there aren't any gov subsidies for this.
