No worries .. I will show you why 960x800 dun work :)
It doesn't work for you because you only want 1 wallpaper for all the sliding screens. We're talking about having the proper size to fit all the sliding screens. :D

Your resolution only means you are upscaling a low res wallpaper to fit a 800x480 screen. If I wanted what you wished for, I would have used multipicture live wallpaper instead, so that I can retain the full resolution of the screen, and not go the half arsed way. :D Also, your original photo is lower than the resolution of the screen, so no matter how you tried to edit, it still means it's substandard. :( What you're doing is fooling around with the aspect ratio of the photo, and not the resolution.

But hey, whatever makes you feel better. :D Sorry you had to take so many photos to prove your point, but it's still the wrong way to fit a picture in the best quality.

I dun need so many screens coz my icons below can fit 15 apps. Hence 1 wallpaper 15 apps.

If you can suggest an application to fit the picture in the best quality in the correct way, I would gladly purchased it :)

That is the problem...you ask for what's the optimum size, but you neglect to tell everyone that you only got 1 homescreen. :D So when they tell you what is the solution, you keep getting it wrong. :(

Your solution is only applicable if the picture resolution is below 800x480, which is rare these days. If the picture is supposed to fit the multiple homescreens, then 960x800 is STILL the solution. If the user has a scenario like you (only 1 homescreen) and has a picture bigger than 800x480, then cropping down to 800x480 in conjunction with multipicture live wp is a good combo.

It's not that your solution is wrong. It's that you didn't give the peeps here enough info to help ya, and secondly, your perceived solution only works for your scenario AND a low res wallpaper - but you have the idea that it's a one size fits all solution, which it isn't.

That's all. :D

In fact, the main problem is that you are using a picture that is lower resolution than the screen. You are now stretching/cropping your 600x400 image into a 670x400 image, then stretching that to fit a 800x480 screen. Why does it work? Because the 670x400 aspect ratio is similar to the 800x480 aspect ratio.

670/400 = 1.675
800/480 = 1.666

That's why it works. But it's evident the image appears pixelated due to the stretching. What you need is preferably an image that's bigger than 800x480 to work with in the beginning.

what you're looking at is still upsampled.. duh. the screen resolution is 800*480. if you have 1 homescreen, use a 800*480 image for it to be crisp

At the end of the day, I can only say 400x670 is NOT the way to go unless you meet the 2 conditions. :D

your source image is already 400*600

resizing it to 800*480 will also result in a blur or pixelated image

what you need to do is find a high quality source larger than 800*480 and crop/resize it to 800*480

Your eyes must not be very good....if it's lower than 800x480 than it's not optimum. :D

The above picture is 800 x 480

400x600 stretched to 480x800 sure will be pixelated. You don't see it just means your eyes are bad. :D Get them replaced. :D

Anyway 800x480 doesn't work but 480x800 works.

Seriously , the above pictures look pixelated to you ? Are you able to tell me which parts of the pictures have box-box things in them and I will gladly look closer at my home-screen wallpaper.

Sorry there. Forgotten to mentioned something. I found an original resolution of my home-screen wallpaper at 997x1347. I resized it to 480x800. :)
