HiSoundAudio Studio-V > Earsonics SM3

thanks Cyrok95!

You are most welcome. I hope you are really enjoying the unit :D Nice to meet a fellow audiophile my age.

Doesn't the V have too much hiss for your Miracles? How does the issue compare to the 3rd Ani version?

Well, the new version has much less hiss. Even with sensitive customs such as the miracles, it is nearly impossible to make out any hiss when the music is playing.
I would say there was an 80% reduction in hiss compared to the older version.

In my review of the old version (here) i mentioned that the hiss on the old version was not very evident but noticeable, especially in quite passages in some music.

It is good for most music but can get a bit irritating during some classical tracks where quiet passages are common.

This 'nearly impossible to make out' is with 16-ohm Miracles without any resistor-adaptors?

Yes. I don't bother using an impedance cable (Don't have one to begin with).

To be clear, i mean Studio V 3rd Aniv > TWagV2(OM) > UM Miracles

Here's my current portable rig I currently bring around when on the go!

Assembled and ready to go:

The breakdown:

Just implemented a simple scotch tape mod to hold the stuff together and it seems to hold very well for the past week! :D

Thinner and cheaper than velcro as well! :s13:

Whether it will hold in the long run, well...we'll see...

rigs at home;

introducing nokia pureview 808 on the left, very good sounding player, should be the best among smartphones, and maybe one of the best among portable players.

lent my HiSound Audio V player to my friend. so it's not in the pic.
he even commented that nokia 808 sounds better as he felt that audio V is lacking of bass.

Westone fan boy  :s22:

Fan boy just because I own 2 of their custom models? Lol
That does not mean I detest other brands, just that I still prefer Westone sound signature after trying couple models of shure, earsonics, ultimate ears, sensaphonics and some other bands which I can't remember.

Unfortunately,I am not someone who knows how to describe sound quality even in decent audio terms.
Only know that ES5 is tight in bass (due to its size of the woofer) while ES2 is focused more on clarity, as a comparison.

I prefer ES2 since i listen more on jazz, vocal jazz.
For ES5, probably it suits genre like rock and pop music.

Not saying ES2 is better but it is just my own preference.
Each is good in its own, really.

Tried on the demo set of ES2 last year in jaben, and was abit regretted to choose ES5 though the price is a difference of $300 as I missed the sound on ES2 (have owned it before 4+ years back, sold it as I was broke that time).

Sorry, don't know how to describe in details despite I own both models.

No problem bro that did help with my decision because I'm already waiting for my UM Aero shipping ear impressions out soon.

Will see if that will be my last stop or really need to go to ES5 =) Thanks!

Anyway, what's the correct way to maintain the CIEM?
I use alcohol swap once a week to clean the inner bores, not sure would it affect the soft vinyl tips in the long run. As in, the isolation part.

Then on the desiccant part, average how long does it take the orange beads to turn dark?

Pelican case you mean?
how about storing it in a ziplock bag?

He probably means a proper dry box or even better, a dry cabinet. Not just a case. Don't have to change the silica. Runs on electricity usually.

I just dump my audio stuff inside my dry cabinet with my camera gear.
