Have been using MSI R9 280X for a few years. Recently, went to check the power consumption of the GPU. Surprising that it is very high and my computer is running 24hrs / 7 days. I plan to reduce my power consumption by upgrading my GPU since it is the only component that uses too much watts.

Any recommendation? Budget less than $400

With this kind of usage, even a power hungry card will not consume much power...I think

Does your CPU have a built in GPU? Quite frankly none of your use cases makes use of a gaming GPU.

Really?? When i run multiple NOX player, my computer lags a lot. Graphic glitch and slowness occured. Still, you are not answering my question. I want to reduce power consumption regardless of what GPU i am using.

He did. Is you are not getting the point.

Remove the graphics card, run internal graphics. You cut a total of 2xx watts. Simple as that. Not unless your cpu has no internal graphics.

NOX is very CPU and RAM intensive. It uses the CPU to simulate a mobile GPU. If you are encountering lag, it's because your CPU is too weak / not enough threads and your RAM is too low.

In some cases it didnt even use the gpu to run his applications and games.

All this droid simulators are mainly leveraging cpu cores than gpu.

Im using i7 4770k igpu to play my clash of clans, lineage and also sometimes 7 knights

Hey I'm kinda new at this. Could you advise how I can utilise my GPU to the full potential? Sometime I open multiple nox player to play other game. Maximum I could open is two. I have 16gb ram. 1.5gb is allocated to each instance with 2 core.

Also, I tried with 3 instances. This is where my computer start to lag where I can't perform normal task like youtube etc (actually I can still browse but the experience isnt that great. Some lag time)
