Try plugging something else into the same power extension plug and see..

If problem persist, means PSU is fine, can be the power extension.

If problem doesn't persist, PSU is not fine.

i tried all the above methods. the thing is whenever i tried to plug in a new appliances, i will get a short circuit.

example i have a 6 socket power surge with 5 appliances on it. I have an extra brand new scanner and after i plug the scanner in, short circuit will occur. And whenever i plug out any 1 of the appliances from the surge, nothing will happen.

on my powersurge, from left to right:

computer 700w PSU | main 24' ips monitor | sub 19' TN monitor | 2.1 speakers |DAC | empty

on my other room sockets i have things like dry cabinet, boardband modem, iphone chargers, fan and scanner(new, but i took out).

please help???

By that I mean use another power strip, like those selling for $20 at supermarkets.

The thing that tripped is ELCB/RCD or over-current?

It my ELCB. :( But only the 'switch/pole' of my room is tripped. The rest of ok.

I think i will just change a power strip to play safe.

Hi guys,

sorry to dig my own thread after a year as i am monitoring the situation. After changing everything, the problem still persisted.

I changed to a brand new powersurge (APC) and psu (FPS) but still getting short circuit.

is there any recommended electrician can help me solve this problem?

How old is your flat? or apartment?

Most likely your wires need to be rerouted. And most likely got to rewire everything.

if your incoming not trip but your MCB trip most likely your house internal wires are way too old.

My flat is more than 30 year old liao.

If rerouting the wire, you guys have any good contractor to recommend.

You might wanna call your own contractor that did your house at the very first day.

If no longer exist you might ask around your families that have contractor whom renovated their house or something.

Sounds like weakened parts in ELCB. Needs replacement.
