If the device is universal (110v-240v), you only need an adapter. Usa is using 110v whereas sg is using 230v input. So if the device can only accept 110v input, you need a step down transformer.

First of all, changing the head to match singapore socket is simple, just cut off the US head and fix a Singapore head to it. But before you change, go read the specification to see what voltage it work on. US nomrally is 120V but singapore socket are all 220-240V. if it work on 120V, then u will need a transformer to bring the voltage down to 120V. go google abit.

If you connect a 110v specific device to a 230v outlet without a transformer, usually is GG.

Hello recently i bought another new z5500 speakers and the power plug unit its from U.S is there any shop in SLS i can go to make it compatible with Singapore power socket? i have tried using the travel adapter it can slot in but it doesnt work?

the seller said i need to use a transformer? i dont get it

Look at the power adapter, usually there's a sticker with specs. Better still, take a pic of that and post here.

There's two scenarios (assuming you haven't already blown the fuse or the system...)

1. The power adapter is for 110v only.
You will need to get a step down transformer (it will convert the 220v to 110v that is safe for the device).
You will also need to get a socket adapter (or what you refer to as the travel adapter).

2. The power adapter supports 110-220v (aka universal).
You only need to get a socket adapter. This simply converts the dual flat pins to 3-pin.

Hahaha. ethernet cable and power cable is different. power cable max only have 3 cables namely live wire netural wire and earth wire (they are colour coded). just have to differentiate which is which and where to put and careful of being short circuit. power cable are biger and easlier to manage than ethernet wire.

If your set only support 110V and have already tried using passive adapter, then really GG. :o

Ts, you need step down transformer

Kandinsky, we need to match input voltage to the desired input. In this case we need lower input. Therefore we need step down transformer. Not step up.

Thanks for the correction. :) Realized the typo after I posted it.

I think there is still some hope for TS? the pic show that there is a fuse there? prehaps maybe only the fuse is blown. Maybe TS wan to remove the fuse and try to replace it and also to get a step down transformer? abit tedious. haha..hope after buying the transformer, the price is still lower than that in singapore.

Like most ppl say, it's likely a gg scenario. Did you smell anything burning? If you're very lucky *maybe* the fuse saved it. Can try replacing that and getting a step-down transformer...

Make sure you get the correctly rated fuse though. You put in a 220v fuse you will gg again :s13: Not sure if it's difficult to get a 125V rated fuse here.

to be safe, take out the fuse, record the fuse rating and bring it to the shop. sim lim tower should have shop selling fuse..just not sure they have the same rating. but if ur speaker really is GG, then ur transformer will be wasted too. so all the best to u bro.

treat it as a lesson.

Be sure to buy the slow blow type of fuse, usually there will be a letter/marking S on the metal casing of the fuse. S is Slow Blow fuse.

Without the marking S, most likely is normal/fast blow fuse which some comes with a marking F.

Most likely the speaker set survived with a blown fuse, replacing the fuse and buy a step down transformer 230v to 110v will fix the problem.
