Power Strip fried my system?

I plugged my new built PC into a power strip and my house circuit breaker tripped. Resetting the circuit breaker, I realised that somehow I managed to fry both my GPU and the monitor it was connected to. Anyone have any clue how this happened?

Don't think here is the good place to ask how your house power point trip.
If you are staying HDB look for licensed electrician help you check whether the power point
have issues or not.

Power strip wise depend how old is it, if there are any socket not working or having
any static noise is best not to use it.
You can get this from nearby electronic shop like Self fix to check the power strip sockets.

Hmm yeah I probably get an electrician to take a look at the power port that the strip was plugged into. Thing is I cant figure out how it managed to kill both my monitor and the gpu. I even had other appliances plugged into the same port but they are all still working so not sure what happened. Thankfully managed to RMA the card so now just waiting on the electrician to check things out.

What power strip you using?

Power strip cannot anyhow buy. Only buy the reputable brand.

I had a couple of devastating power surges because my apartment is already decades old. One took out a fan, the plug exploded out of the wall outlet. The other took out a Belkin surge protector, but my desktop that was connected to it was perfectly fine. In any case I was glad that I spent on the Belkin, it's pricey but at least got peace of mind.

Don’t think the power strip will fry the monitor and GPU. More likely the PSU fried the GPU and monitor.

Sounds like a fire hazard. You might want to consider having an electrician rewire the place.
