Power Supply Help.

Currently using an RMA'ed Seasonic M12II-520 and find myself experiencing Kernel Power error shutdowns at random every few days. Checked : RAM, temp, power profiles in OS. No solution.

Thinking of using the $30-off-$130 voucher on Qoo10 to get a new PSU. Heard many good things about EVGA G2. Then I found this : Why you should not purchase EVGA's G2 lineup

Now I'm left wondering. What PSU should I get? OR is there some way I can just stick with the unit I have now and solve the Kernel power issue? Please advise.

The EVGA G2 is essentially a Superflower Leadex Gold. I think you are better off getting the Superflower one instead because it's cheaper.

Nope. Never overclocked. Running stock I5 4460.

Yes. G2 = Leadex Gold. And according to the article I read both suffer from the same flaw that's too technical for me to understand but I assume is not ideal.

As I said in the OP, I come here open to suggestions if not solutions. Best case outcome: Someone suggests something that solves the Kernel power issues I'm facing with my current Seasonic M12-II-520 and I can stick with it. Alternative outcome: An informed as-good-as PSU alternative recommendation taking price into account.

Surprisingly enough, I've actually tried that. It so happens that I can't tell between one result or another since I have no clue which is better. Pretty much why I came here hoping that some others with better building experience might make some exact model recommendations.

well if open can open more other place offer i wont be restricted to just qoo10

anyway im not all too familar with cm and corsair. but FSP and Superflower are next inline i would reco.

And yet you are considering G2? To be honest, there is no perfect PSU. Not so long back, people are praising how great the Seasonic PSUs are, but look at them now. Corsair was a great brand, but I think the race to make more affordable PSUs are also bringing down the quality. To be fair, unless you are willing to pay a fortune for a PSU, which I strongly do not recommend, quality is surely something that you may have to close one eye as long as it is stable and do not explode.

1. There is a reason why the Superflower Leadex Gold is cheaper: not all caps are from JP unlike the G2. Yes, the Leadex Gold has Taiwanese Capxon caps on a secondary board.

2. I rely on Jonnyguru site for PSU.

3. The Corsair RM500x does not appear to be available in Singapore.

Was. Wrote the G2/Leadex off as soon as I found the article. Now looking for alternatives.

Right now, based on my what I can get for the money on Qoo10, I'm leaning towards either a Seasonic G-550 OR another M12II-520. With a price difference of $35, I'm wondering whether which to go with.
