Guys, i need help desperately

I was helping my grandpa to reformat his HP TouchSmart 520 All-in-One PC as he claimed that it was getting more and more laggy. Everything went fine until disaster struck - I ACCIDENTALLY SWITCHED OFF THE WRONG WALL OUTLET AND THE PC GOT TURNED OFF WHILE REFORMATTING WAS STILL IN PROCESS :s16::s16:

Now the pc won't turn on and i feel so bad for my grandpa, can all the kind souls tell me what exactly happened to the hard disk? Does it mean the hard disk is spoilt and no longer bootable? I have the recovery discs with me, please offer me some advices thank you very much!

I'm confused with the "PC won't turn on". You mean physically nothing on the screen, no HP logo, no lights etc, or you mean won't boot.

Not sure if this series has a power on light. My old touch smart has one. If no power on light. Suspect power supply first.

Hello Good Morning.

Is there any activity from the all in one PC itself? - i.e. any led indicator (hdd activity, power indicator (refer to pic 1), spinning fan, hdd sounds?

Pic 1. Power Indicator.

Also, is there any indicator on the power brick itself? - sometimes it could be a loose connection / power brick issue on top of the OS issue due to sudden shut down.

Lastly, Power down the PC, unplug it from the adapter and the socket, then perform a discharge by pressing the power for approx 30 seconds and try seeing it it goes to bios.

Do let us know if this work and on a side note, don't sweat about it :) I am sure that your Grandpa understands your kind intent in helping him reformat. We all have our fair share of well messing stuffs up and then regret / fret when looking back in hindsight - me inclusive - but it's a learning experience and I m sure the forum community here will try to help you in what way we can.

Cheers!

I don't think factory reset will brick your PC. It will only mess up the OS installation which I believe that you can start again since the recovery drive should not be impacted.
