Hi all,

I'm undecided whether to get a power track for my living room and study. What would be the pros and cons of the power track vs a regular socket? Any brands to recommend? I think the power track costs more but looks nicer. I'm looking at eubiq and line8

I think it looks nicer and more tidy. If have the budget then get it, if not it serves the same function as a regular socket which is to provide electricity.

I personally went through this thought process when I renovated my house. I initially thought of installing Eubiq tracks all over my house.

But as I thought carefully about what I really want and my workflow, I realised that What I'd rather do is HIDE the cabling rather than have them exposed. And that's what I spend my money doing.

Practically speaking, unless you're constantly changing positions of your plugs and adding or subtracting the number of plugs, there is literally no advantage to a power track. If that's you, then yes.

IMO, the cost of such a system is still higher than adding a bunch of plugs, and definitely more than using an extension. So if aesthetics matter, choose this.
For example, in my home theatre den, I have 20 sockets. In my living room, I have 12. Always add twice the number you envisage.

Totally agree. Just be overkill and install as many as possible.

My living room TV area has 15 sockets, and I still ran out and had to add more.
