Hello all,

I am posted to Tekkong for BMT (19 weeks obese training). I have some questions hope you guys could help me out.

-I'm having a dilemma of either sign on as Police or Air Force, so do I have to apply sign on before BMT or after?

-What are the things I'll be doing for 2 years of national service. For example what's next after the 19 weeks of BMT?

-When I'm able to go home? (except leaves and off days)

-Do I have to go overseas for further training or it's 100% Singapore based.

Thanks

Hearing your condition, and you are posted to 19 week obese course
Signing on requires BMI ~27 or to be FIT, Need to work on the weight loss before there is any talks.

Various things. you can go see the "NS Vocations" tab at cmpb.gov.sg

If you meant when enlisting to Tekong, count 2 weekends, the third weekend you will be out. Subsequently would be every friday.
If you meant in Unit, it's also friday for Stay-in vocations. Stay out vocations work 8-5 everyday.

Depends on unit. Some train fully local, some get deployed overseas for more experiential and immerse training.

Unless you can get accepted by Police before you enlist, if not i think you can only go join police towards the end of your 2 years NS liability. I think if you want to sign on air force, you may want to experience BMT first before you decide whether military life is for you. why do you want to sign on?

depends on what vocation you get posted to.

for BMT, count 2 weekends, the 3rd you should be booking out on enlistment (this is true unless things change). thereafter should be weekly unless got stuff over the weekends or if u never hit your ideal weight or whatever, or pass ippt or whatever. when go unit same thing unless stay out lor.

Depends.

pretty sure it's not all 8-5, and is more like 5.30 than 5.

Why specifically airforce? I'd assume you've already thought out which vocation to join?

If not, there are different schemes in the SAF, i.e. officer scheme, wospec scheme and military expert scheme. Different schemes have different vocations, or the other way round however you see it. E.g. for airforce, pilots and WSOs (both have extremely stringent criterion to fulfill) are under the officer scheme and engineers are mostly under the Military Expert schemes.

If I'm not wrong, if you want to sign police, you need to do it early. Once you enlist cannot crossover unless you're posted as a Police OCT iirc.

any place is still better than tekong + BMT.

if you are serious about sign-on. tell your platoon sergeant and OC. they will be please to wack u upside down until ur BMI meets the criterial to sign on.

ok they will be happy to help u to monitor your progress and work towards the goal. they want people with your attitude.

just enjoy the dirt and the mates there. you will never forget this experience.

u can go home aft ur confinement period. usually its around 3 weeks. idk if it lucky or unlucky but if theres a public holiday during the 3 weeks u get to book out for a day.

overseas training is based on where u are posted to after u pop provided u are still in army. even men also have chance to go for overseas exercise
