Pre-requisite for Accountancy degree?

Hey, I'm bout to matriculate in SMU school of accountancy this Aug, is it necessary for me to read up on Principles of Account now? If not, how can I prep myself for it?
Advice greatly needed! Thank you.

P.S: I didn't take POA during 'O's.

Accountancy at Uni level is not so much on the transaction accounting (still important once u step out of school) but focus more on accounting standards, which are conceptual based. Additionaly, u have other modules such as Economics, Investments, Org Behavior...etc.

What i mean by concept is as follow;

E.g. Can you capitalise QS cost incurred for your building construction? So, FRS 16 will give you the answer.

There is no harm in knowing double entry still!
