If you buy a prebuild pc with os install inside ssd. If you remove it and replace new 1tb ssd. It cannot function without os?

All SSD/Hard disk that are sold in store doesn't have OS or anything on it, is basically blank.
If you don't know how to install Windows than ask the shop help you do it but
of cuz need to pay additional.

You'll have to clone it across to the new SSD before swapping otherwise it won't work.

or u can create an os installation usb with ur current drive, then after swapping ur ssd u plug in the usb and it will install the os from there. it will be a fresh install though, so if u want ur files from ur old drive on ur new one u have to find a way to transfer them.

Prepare a usb thumbdrive and select your window version then selection installation media. Once you created the disc, replace your new SSD and plug in the USB to install.

I think OS should utilize the smaller SSD as well.
But if I have to guess the reason of replacement, probably because the M.2 slot the current SSD is sitting in is higher speed than the remaining slot. So OP might prefer to place the bigger size SSD into higher speed slot and downgrade the smaller size SSD to slower speed.

If you are dealing with a desktop, you should determine if you need to replace the existing SSD that came with the system. Usually modern desktops should allow you to install 2 or more NVME SSD. If there is indeed only 1 SSD slot, then you just have to clone the existing drive to the new one. Most SSDs I've purchased come with cloning software that you have to download from their website.

it can function. you will be able to boot into the bios, just no windows.

i think in high speed slot or not make little different for normal use lah

in view of warranty, better leave as it is & addon new SSD for expansion or even bootup (just configure bios)

sometimes heatsink/cover stick onto M2 SSD make replacement a little difficult for non-DIYer
