Hi guys.

After looking through threads and some products, can i gather some opinion on whether Pregnancy insurance is really necessary?

The coverage seems little compared to the premiums i pay.

Will this be something u will recommend or alternatively, what will be a better way of ensuring coverage for the mum n the baby?

Speaking from personal experience, coverage of child hospitalization is more important. It cost more than $1K per day in NICU.

It really depends if you have concerns that there will be complications for baby as the main selling point of the plan is that the baby will be able to get a life plan should there be complications. Payout is just a nominal figure and shouldn't be the main factor in deciding to take up the plan or not.

If the above is not much of a concern to you, just get the coverage for your baby after he/she is borned

Hi Peter. Child hospitalization coverage will be covered under medishield already right? So likely the case will be to get the integrated medishield plans from the insurers for improved coverage?

At that time, I claim until no more, blew my creditcard and Nets limit. :( Gynae said everything was OK until the water bag burst and the baby was very under weight. Totally, unexpected event. Thank goodness, everything is OK. So, it's best that you check with your insurance agent what child hospitalization is covered under medishield plan e.g. NICU.

Coverage for such pre-natal plan is only $5000, why I share $5000, its because most people that got this is looking ONLY at the pre-natal benefit.

You should review your current coverage first, since pregnancy has its risk and complication. Protect your spouse and yourself.

When child is born, then look at a proper life and medical insurance.
