Preorder rtx 3080 from Madcow Computer

Hi anyone preorder rtx3070/3080 from madcow computer on shopee/qoo10 before? are they reliable? do you get the cards?

Depends on the model and your luck. They are legit. My cousin's aorus master 3080 was pre-ordered since mid sept, only receive last week.

I preordered a gigabyte 3080 eagle on release day, got it on the 29th September. Shady shop for sure if you go pick up but highly vouch. Auntie is very nice as well

If you are not rushing for unit, then its okay to pre order for them.

I ordered in sept , only delivered in Dec.

I still find it very strange that the Madcow Shop is being run by an Auntie. I'm not misogynistic. Just very surprised as enthusiast hardware and aunties are not an obvious link.

I ordered the Gaming Oc 3080 via whatsapp on 21 Oct, week after week the aunty said next week will arrive. This monday I had enough. I called cdl and asked them to reserve 1 for me. Got my aorus master yesterday.

i order gfc from them. if u wan to get card. u go there camp.

they give whoever who bring cash over.

all the reserve order only when they think of it they will call them to come.

MadCow is a decent and proper shop. So if you are leaving your money with them, it is much safer than buying from dubious sources in Carousell or any of the e-retail platorms.

Having said that, I don't recommend preordering anything now because you are leaving your money with them, with no expected date to receive your goods. They may tell you next week there's stock (which she told me twice each week I call them), but because you don't know how long is the waiting list since this list have been around since the launch of the RTX 30xx series, you may end up getting your card some few months later.

And by the way, the preorder price is not fixed. In other words, if you pay 1K for example now, and the card ends up being 1.2K, you will need to top up the extra 200 bucks before you can bring the card home. Otherwise, you just end up wasting your time waiting if you choose not to pay the extra.

This is the annoying part to me. Like twice Jess told me she will call me when the stock arrives next week, but never follow up. The worst part is that she is the one who suggested that I take a certain brand of RTX 3080 to replace what I preordered since she told me there will be no stock for the card I wanted.

I don’t know where you see the preorder listing from MadCow, but if you look at their Carousell listing and previously their Shopee listing(which I think they removed or forced to remove), it’s clearly stated on their TnC. I can’t really ding them because they are getting the stock at higher prices from the distributors, so obviously they need to adjust the price, vice versa. So if it’s cheaper they will also refund you back the difference. But I am against this practice of holding open preorders that have no ETA in sight. The longer they drag, given the current situation, you are more likely to have to pay more.

Pros: 1) it's a real shop 2) they do allow you to reserve 3) flexibility to change your order from one brand to another
Cons: 1) they will forget reservations 2) over promise on deadlines 3) they don't seem to be getting top priorities with distributors with the exception of CDL. For instance other shops are getting from Convergent on schedule, but not them.

In a nutshell given the current gpu situation if you need it in the next month don't get it from them. If you are willing to wait 4 months sure go ahead.

Madcow/ Jess, is quite ok. Not scammer. I used visit her shop and buy my parts from her.

But if u pre-order stuff, waiting time can be long especially during these CPUs and GPU times shortage times. I pre-ordered a 5900X from her but waited for nearly a month no news hence asked for refund which took a few weeks too. End up I got a 5600X from Taobao, faster. If you order RTX3080 from her, i think u would have a higher chance getting from Amazon.

For example, if distributor wants to you take xx number of motherboards and other products before they furnish you with any GPU, then by refusing to comply, you just lose your priority. This is actual practice from what I understand, and its not even a proportionate allocation, for example, you need to take 20 motherboards before they allocate 2 GPUs to you.

Those 20 mobos are probably not the types people wants to build with and their warehouse is full of it.

While this is possible, but I feel popular or not is one thing, but with components like CPU and GPU in shortage, it is impossible to sell motherboards in large numbers.
