If I remove the preset 500GB SSD from my preset pc say HP or acer, will the operating system also be removed? And if I install a new SSD, do I need to install a fresh OS on it?

You can clone the data on the old SSD onto the new SSD. Get a thumb drive and install bart pe onto it. Use the Macrium Reflect inside bart pe to make an image. With a SSD fresh from manufacturer you probably only need 64GB to copy the entire data. Then install the new drive and use bartpe and Macrium Reflect to copy to the new drive.

Try to do a clean install if you know how to.
Cuz Prebuild PC like HP, Acer and Dell have lots of bloatware.
including trail software like Mcaffee pre-loaded.
If not sure can bring to a shop let them do it for you.
Windows without bloatware will perform and run smoothly
than with pre-loaded bloatwares.
