Printer recommendation

Hi.
Just trying to make life easier working from home instead of needing to go office to print stuffs.

Is there any decent budget printer that have a low running cost, and also able to print double sided on its own?

Don't need much bell and whistles like scanning capabilities etc etc

So some of the criteria will be
Budget Below $200
Low running cost for the ink.
Small footprint
Able to auto print dualsided

What models can I look at?

Low running cost? Don't buy authentic refills.
Small footprint? Basically most A4 printers the same leh.
Duplex + monochrome? Laser printer if u need it fast. Duplex for my low end printer stopped working after months.

but realized it doesnt have the 2 sided printing function automatically?

is there any other models to recommend, that will be able to incorporate the 2 sided function on top of

If printer is cheap... Ink will be expensive

Frankly auto duplex never mind la... Just follow the instructions flip the pages when u print

That will give u numerous options

Brother canon Mono laser $99 to $199 dirt cheap

And don't bother buying new toner... Just buy new printer

What models can I look at?

If you don't frequently print, can send to those neighborhood printing/copying shop to print.

• 0 ownership
• budget below $200 can print many many
• running cost incur per print, but maintenance not your problem
• no footprint. Only footprint you left behind are the traveling distance to the printing shop
• dual sided no problem. 4 page to one A3 also no problem.

*You might think I am joking. But I actually live with that for 3+ years when I have no space for a printer at my old place.

I am currently using Epson L6170 3-in-1 network printer (with duplex) which uses ink tanks. I find it economical since my kids always print a lot for school projects and during my WFH. I am using third party ink refills.

Look at ink/toner costs first, then work backwards as to which models you want.

I am currently using Epson L6170 3-in-1 network printer (with duplex) which uses ink tanks. I find it economical since my kids always print a lot for school projects and during my WFH. I am using third party ink refills.

You can find a quite a few sellers (from Malaysia) on shopee. I will normally read review before buy and will not stick to one seller.

If I remember correctly, the last time I got it like $20+ for a set of 4 colors. Buy more still has voucher and discounts. My family normally print a lot, so I will stock up when the ink on sale.​

1) Cheap Ink Printer with Expensive Ink that dries up very fast
vs
2) Expensive Laser Printer with Cheap Ink that last for years

if choose laser, there is option for refills or re-manufactured cartridges, which lowers the overall cost.
at home, we seldom print. the 12 year old $99 oki printer is still on it's original cartridge.

If printing those print read and throw notes ....Top up ink can also mix with some distilled water.... Like 10% water mix and shake shake the bottle

My Canon MF249dw printer is still working, but the plastic quality is quite poor - the main hinge snapped. Top hinge for scanning still works, but the whole top unit that I have to open to replace the toner is broken at that hinge.

Have already gone through 4 cartridges. Have one more spare so a bit reluctant to throw the printer just yet.
