Direct connection. Probably you can do isolation check?

Can't do isolation check as i only got 1 adapter and there is no HDMI port for the MBA M2 series...

However, it only happened when some specific advertisement is on. It happened just now but now it is not. Few days ago it happened as well.

Same for me but it happens randomly, sometimes i think it might be due to the adapter being overwork and "overheat" which cause the flickering but can't be verified...

Your Monitor 4K or 1080? For My M1 Mac mini on 4K with background or screen with 40% black will cause flickering lines. Once I hook up the same cable and device to a 1080 monitor no issue while playing the same video or access the same website.

Try connecting with a good quality 2.0 HMDI cable rated for full 4K.

I encountered similar problems when I connected my M1 Mac-Mini to my Hisense 4K TV using old 1.4 HDMI cables. Tried changing 6 cables without any success. Eventually found out it was the old HMDI cables that couldn’t support the required high bandwidth.

Problem went away when I changed to brand new HDMI 2.0 cable from Vention

I use the face the same issue on my M1 mac Mini.
I change a few HDMI cables and including uGreen and Vention HDMI to HDMI. They kept having flickering issue.

My issue finally fixed after i got Vention USB-C to Display port cable. Lucky my monitor has a DP port.

The flickering issue is driving me crazy. I tried a new Thunderbolt to Display port cable that is capable of 8k 60Hz (basically over spec), thought it fixed it but problem come back the next day.

I have set appearance to bright mode so that those websites with dense black patterns display it in white. Not seeing flickering any more. Just hope it won't flicker in some dark scene movies.....

For flickering issue, can also tried turning off "nightshift", "True Tone" and "Automatically adjust brightness"and make sure refresh rate is not set as "variable rate" on external display

Cable or adapter problem. Change to good quality cable first. If doesn't work, use original apple usb c to hdmi.

Hi all,

Apologies for the super late update, too much to do at work nowadays...

Anyway managed to solve my issue by eliminating the need for a multi-adapter then HDMI, bought a $12 Vention USB-C to HDMI Cable and walaa, problem solved!

good for you! I tried several cables. HDMI-HDMI, USB-C - HDMI, USB-C - DP, all give same problem. When visiting website in darkmode, when there is those very dense tiny dark boxes (think is background to fill empty spaces of advertisement), it will flicker. Turned off dark mode temporary while I find a solution....
