After some googling, its a variant of IPS, has a high contrast ration but slower. 60hz should fit my needs but I will go to CEF to take a look before committing.
60Hz should fit your needs? G-Sync not necessary?
Let me give you a wake up call.
Ever since I have the 1440p 165Hz G-Sync monitor, I have not been experiencing any tears. After getting the 1080Ti, I wanted to utilize my 4K TV for gaming cos the difference in details and sharpness from my monitor to my 4K TV was HUGE so I just had to make use of it when playing Assassin's Creed Origins.
But then, to my surprise, the amount of tearing you see on the TV was astonishingly disturbing. It happen everytime I pan the camera around to look left or right which is like the thing you must do all the time. It was so jarring. Turning on V-Sync dropped the framerate quite a bit in an already limited frames of around 60 fps that the GPU is outputting at 4K with all settings at Max. So now, the game runs +/-50fps with V-Sync plus a bit of sluggishness but still bearable.
After a while, I just went back to my G-sync monitor. Cos G-sync works wonders if your fps falls in the monitor Hz range. Even at 40fps which this game does go to at times, the game feels super smooth and fast (like it is not running at 40Hz) all thanks to G-sync.
So end of the day, if you can afford G-sync monitor, buy it. If not, then just look at what suits you. Not necessarily looks but the quality of the panel. TN panels like my prev BenQ monitor produce extremely wrong colour reproduction. Way different from what my OLED phone shows and definitely different from my old 1080P LED TV shows. BenQ's TN was just that bad. Go for a minimum of VA or IPS at 144Hz.
