IPO

I would really love to learn more about IPO because my friends have been asking me to go to seminars of pre ipo companies.

Any company that has to host a seminar to drum up investments is not one you want to invest in.

Legit pre-IPO companies don't go hosting seminars to raise funding - they go to their bankers, or they hit up venture capital funds and big investors. Companies that raise money from small investors by dangling the promise of a phat IPO paycheque are dirty.

interesting.. not many people would want to invest in those.. unless they have vested funds of a mil at least..

are you? :o:o:o:o:o

Guess I am one of those "interesting" people. :o

Honestly though, angel investing is super risky, so I wouldn't advise doing that unless you really know the industry well and you can strategically help the companies. I turn away all the f&b, retail plans because I am not knowledgeable, I focus mainly in Internet plays.

As for PE funds, those good ones are hard to get in (usually via private banks) and require a large bite size. There are a lot of angel, early VC funds in sg (some partially funded by govt), entrance investment as a LP can be as low as 100k but lock in for around 10+1+1 years. So normally if you need liquidity, you can't invest in these funds.

IPO wise, well, there are quite a few IPOs that dip below offer price so subscribe with care. Those good ones are usually many times oversubscribed so they don't need roadshows to drum up support.
