When given a choice between local or private university, do you have friends who chose the latter instead? If yes, is it due to the shorter duration of study or other reasons?

Students who chose private University for various reasons such as the following:
(i) Good University ranking
(ii) Unable to get a place in a local University due to competition of available places
(iii) Exemption of modules and shorter duration e.g. Polytechnic students can get admitted to 2nd year courses with relevant Diploma. The degree can be fast-tracked and cost is lowered
(iv) Flexibility to read some modules overseas in the onshore campus via student exchange/summer programme

Yes. I choose to attend Harvard cos it's more prestigious and I want the 'live abroad' experience.

For those who are ignorant, go find out the difference between public, private, online learning and distance learning.

Some universities have multiple campuses. Monash University is a public university.

MIT, Caltech, Princeton, Harvard, are some of the private universities.
