Pro Advice on Building New PC

Hi Everyone,

I am a newbie to building a PC given that my last build is in 2012 (via advice from Pros here). I did some research and generated the following list (as below) hoping to seek for some expert comment or suggestion please.

- Gigabyte B760 Gaming X AC DDR4
- Intel Core i5-13400F | 10 Core 16 Threads
- Gigabyte RTX 3070 Eagle OC - 8GB
- 2x 16GB ADATA Spectrix D45G DDR White
- Cooler Master Hyper 212 White
- WD Black SN850X NVME
- Superflower Leadex III Gold 850W 80+
- Corsair 5000D Airflow TG White Casing

My purpose is to build a PC for gaming (e.g. COD MWII) that can last for about 10 years (with minor upgrading along the way) if possible

Not a heavy gamer. Maybe 6 to 8 hours per week. Budget will be between 1,800 to 2,000. I do have 1x Seagate BarraCuda 4TB 3.5 inch HDD avaliable and are thinking of using it as games storage while using WD SN850X as Window drive.

cant comment much on this setup without pricing context. however, i would say that a 3070 with 8gb of vram is probably not going to last very long and a 850w psu is quite overkill for this level of performance.

i suggest u take a look here:
https://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/threads/pc-rig-recommendations-for-2023.6852056/u have 2 options, can pluck either the midrange 1.3k build and upgrade the nvme to the sn850x from pc themes, or the high end 2.2k build and swap out the 4070 for the 6700xt from the 1.3k build. either way, u get a very potent 6700xt build, with its 12gb of vram a safer bet vs the 3070 and it performs better than even the 3070ti in cod mwii. the 5600 is comparable to the 13400 in gaming, while the 7600 far surpasses it.

no such thing, CPUs just run shorter if you run it at elevated temperatures all the time, otherwise they should last about the same

Looks ok for the most part, do consider a DDR5 option though:

I see youtube 7600 is 5-10% faster and cheaper by $50 , if me i would go 7600

it depends on other workloads u do on ur pc. if u do a lot of multithreaded work like video encoding or 3d rendering, the intel option would serve u better. but if ur just gaming and general use (eg. web surfing and watching video), the 5600 is cheaper by a substantial margin and provides basically the same experience, so that would be the obvious choice for me. if ur already planning to use ddr4 for intel then imo intel doesnt have any futureproofing advantage either. take note that the 13400f cannot make full use of the 3600mhz ram in gear 1 too.
also why would u choose a strix 6700 xt? thats really overpaying for a gpu, other aib cards (esp amd exclusive ones like powercolor or sapphire) have better options for cheaper.

- Powercooler Red Devil RX6750XT 12GB GDDR6

Beside Asus Dual RX6700XT, are there any other good GPU recommandation (e.g. one with 3x fan ) for this type of setup? Is Powercooler Red Devil RX6750XT 12GB GDDR6 equivalent or better then Asus Dual RX6700?

The RX6750XT is a more powerful card than RX6700XT and in some case win even the RX6800XT. You can also consider RTX4070.

Y not get RTX 4070? Using HDD for gaming is not an ideal recommendation. Best is to use back NVMe SSD for best performance. HDD is generally used for storage now.

RTX 4070 are quite expensive. I think i will go for Powercooler Red Devil RX6750XT 12GB GDDR6 for now. And to upgrade it when necessary in the future.

Actually, if u plan to upgrade short term maybe get 2nd hand gpu better?

Yes, can consider 2nd hand RX6700XT with warranty from carousell. They are going for around S$400+ now.

I think i will stick to buying new one as if can I will like to keep to this GPU for around 5 to 6 years if possible. Not a heavy gamer nowadays.

I also just found out that not all motherboard support Windows 11 (I think Asus A620M doesn't). Given that Windows 10 are reaching EOL in 2025. Any alternative recommendation on the motherboard?

I think i found somewhere (within hardware zone) posting that Gigabyte B650M Aorus Elite AX is a great alternative but the pricing will be a bit high. However, if the item can last longer i think the amount should be worth it. Cos my old build also uses Gigabytes which lasted me about 10 years.

Well, its ur choice. Coz at 1st I saw ur post is getting a RTX 3070. Tats y i recommend a 4070. SLS selling $800++ now. Just went there today to get a PSU.
