Problem, MSI 7970 PE

Hi there, as you can see from the image, the left side of the screen is purplish and there's lines coming down from top to the bottom. I've tried searching for solutions but cant find any because i dont really know what is the problem called

I also tried restarting monitor, pc and also switching it off. I took off the cable and putting it back and on it still the same.

any pros advice??

u sure your monitor is okay?


if so den u can try taking out the GPU and use onboard Graphics n see if this happens. if it still happens den could be the RAM

Try changing to a new output cable. I cant tell the problem from your image coz the wavy lines may be the actual thing happening, may also be your camera device incurring moiré (coloured bands) when capturing the screen.

1) Use onboard. If problem goes away, faulty item = GPU

2) Use onboard. If problem doesn't go away, try changing cable to check (VGA/DVI/HDMI). If problem goes away, faulty item = cable

3) If after step 2) and 3) problem still there, faulty item = monitor

Looks more like monitor issue to me.

Thanks for the solution! Ill try it out but currently, the purple thing is gone for now. Im not sure why, but if it were to come back ill try it out. Thanks!
