Hi all,

I recently bought the Dell 2713HM to use with my Macbook Pro 15" Retina Display. I was previously using the Thunderbolt Display and loved the screen estate but decided to move the monitor home.

I don't quite seem to be able to get the 2713HM to work with the displayport cables. I bought a Mini Displayport to Displayport cable and whenever I plug it in, the monitor goes to power saving mode.

I used the HDMI and it worked. However, because HDMI can support only up to 1980x1080, everything looked very grainy on the screen.

I tried calling DELL support but they mentioned it could be a displayport cable problem since there are different variations.

Just before I go and get myself another displayport cable, I will like to seek the advice of forummers here.

Thanks! =))

It seemed like getting a new DP cable worked. Weird.

However, I have to say that owning both the Thunderbolt Display and the Dell Monitor, I like how it looks on the Thunderbolt Display. The Dell looked a little pixelated.

I think that has to do with the anti-glare coating that the Dell monitor has. Thunderbolt display is clear, reflective surface.
