Problem with PC?

Hello everyone!

I have met with a rather intriguing issue with my PC. My Google Chrome will crash intermittently and randomly, most of the time with the tab crashing. Once in a while, I will have the whole Chrome crashing instead. Chrome crashes from almost every single site that I have visited, such as reddit, facebook, twitch, etc.

In addition, I frequently get BSOD with SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION, BAD_POOL_HEADER, just to name a few. I tried doing a disk check with windows, but I will always get stuck at 66%. May I know what are the possible root cause of these issues and the steps I can take to rectify them?

Some information of my set-up:
AMD A10-7850K
G.Skill 16GB RAM
WD Black 640GB
Samsung ODD
Windows 7 64Bit
ASROCK FM2A88X-ITX+ (Mobo)

With the exception of the HDD, OS and ODD, everything else was bought a few months ago. The HDD and ODD is closing onto 4-5 years of age.

Thanks in advanced!

1) Download and run BlueScreenView to see what system processes are causing the BSOD.

2) Download and run HD Tune and use it to scan the HDD for bad sectors.

Hello everyone! Thanks for the suggestions so far, I downloaded and ran HD Tune for HDD, but there seems to be nothing wrong.

Here are some screenshots from my HD Tune.

I cannot seem to get the minidump files to be created for my bsod though.

Does this crash occurs when you use other browsers like Firefox?

Can try reinstalling Chrome as a last resort.

I do not use Firefox though. I reinstalled Chrome plenty of times. I have also tried out Chrome Canary, which gives me the same issues too.

I might go over to Firefox and try.

These are typical reasons to suspect bad ram module.

Since your HDD is cleared, next down memtest86 to do a scan on your ram.

I had a run with memtest86 partially, till I had to stop it to do something else. How long should I run the memtest for? Is one-pass sufficient? After running for like 40mins, I had like 65xxx+ of errors.

Thank you for pointing this out! This means I can narrow my scope le. Which also means that I may have to send in my RAM for RMA.

You must, not may. :)

Ahhh. I see. Can I take it as I do not need to run memtest86 again and just send my rams for RMA? This means my PC would be left without memory, sobs.

Edit: Realised that I should had done memtest for each stick.

If the memory modules come from a dual channel package, bring both even if only 1 stick is failing. Corbell should give another pair on the spot if stock is available.

Confirmed bad ram module, test one stick at a time to determine which stick is bad. If only one stick faulty, rma the faulty stick and use the remaining stick for the time being.

You might want to try cleaning the gold contact on the module using an eraser, in some cases, it might solved the problem of poor contact lead to bad memory issues.

Hello commach, thank you for the advise! I followed your instructions and diagnosed that only one of the RAM modules is spoiled. The other passed the test with no errors at all. Will be sending it for RMA.

On a side note, Gskills is under which distributor? I had a blue circle sticker with CT pasted on the RAM itself.

Thank you everyone for helping out! I have managed to get my RAM RMA-ed at Corbell. I had a wonderful experience there. The good thing for now is that, everything seems to be normal now. I will prolly ask again if I do have any issues again.

Thanks again!!
