Professional engineer qualification

Called up and checked with PSB - uni of Newcastle & MDIS and was told that their bachelor with honour is qualified to be a PE under PE board.

Anyone graduated from psb/mdis can advise if its true??

SIT's power engineering needs 1year master from NUS/NTU to qualified from what i heard. Is it true? If it is, psb / mdis seems to be a better choice.

Or has anyone attained PE by graduating from PSB / MDIS ??

PSB and MDIS ? Why u not checking with PEB?
Can check with PSB and MDIS but PEB blowing u off?
PEB did publish the rules are rules dated?

Already read the pdf files and have contacted peb via email few days ago. So far stil haven't reply. Few days later will head down and ask.

They told me theirs is not considered d/l hence its qualified. Lol.

So at the meantime, just seeking advises from those who have graduated from the course

Think if i read correctly last time, as long as not distance learning can apply, provided the uni is in the list.

Maybe why people take master is because their degree not yet recognised? I know masters or phd from local uni in power can apply to be pe.

But i heard need two exams and 1 interview to be pe regardless of qualifications.

i think NTU has a Professor who is chairman of pe, currently teaching me power systems.

It's not impt how they considered themselves, the judging party has the ultimate say! They selling you a product ask them if they will pay you a million dollars if PEB goes no? Get a legal contract together, they sign you have nothing to lose. Otherwise hmm...

Exactly. Anyway, PEB will have the final say.

Went there @ JEM office but told me to email as the consultant is on leave. The whole peb office, seems like theres only 1 staff who knows about the qualification. Read before as well.

Nearest to sg is to study @ uni of malaya at msia KL LOLOLOLOL.

Chances are those private institutes' customer service people are not that knowledgeable of the regulations in singapore.

I think you can try count the number of years taken to complete malaya uni degree & cost VS. the number of years taken to complete SIT degree+NUS/NTU master & cost.

The number of years taken might be almost the same. The latter makes you a masters grad compared to a bachelor grad.

Before i started this thread, i have already sent an email to PEB abput 2-3days prior to inquire to them but they take too long to reply. So i thought why not just make a thread first and see anyone from those uni grads has to say?
Also, who said i trust anonymous strangers?? If i trust, i would not have emailed peb and start this thread, no??


Funny thing is, the one who is telling me that it was recognised was MDIS country manager. Lol. Oh well i got my answers anyway. So this thread can help those who was told the same thing as me

You studied power engineering from SIT ?

Recently i am looking at the PE exam syllabus for both papers.
Can see syllabus here, click the link at the page:

can try see if the syllabus tested are similar to what you learnt.

per unit system, sequence impedance, three phase circuits, magnetics, ac dc machines, electrical drives, etc...

Second paper like tougher.. all the code of practice, cp5, cp88, ss something...

And finally still need interview...

youdontknowme: The universities that PEIs like PSB/MDIS offered are in the PEB Sg list. The problem is PEB Sg do not recognized D/L degree. If D/L degree is recognize by PEB Sg, I will be PE long ago.

Why do you even believed PEI staffs'words like MDIS country manager when they maybe a foreigner who know nothing about PEB Sg or worst, not even an BEng graduate? Lucky you check with PEB Sg.

Only NUS/NTU or universities (on campus) from PEB Sg list are recognized to be PE. Other wise, you needs to top up a Master or Doctorate Degree like SIT & TUM BEng graduates.
