Please recommend a shop / person who does professional paint jobs for casings. This would include sanding, primer, etc. Thanks.

Powder coating would be a better option than using a spray paint job.

What chassis you intend to do?

Thanks. I will try this. This is for my casing. Family member spilled some ointment on the top which decoloured the silver coating (revealing the black undercoat). I plan to have the casing powder coated black when I upgrade to Haswell-E / next gen.

Thanks. Anyone has any experience with powder coating? Any one / shop to recommend?

Will powder coating be able to precisely avoid certain fine areas like the outline of the power logo where the led shines through?

Powder coat requires you to strip the entire component down to the very last piece. Riverts are unable to remove will stay. Please bear in mind that you need to remove all plastic contents of the chassis. No plastic can be powder coat as it has to go into high heat oven in order to powder coat. At that temp, any plastic will melt.

Hougang industrial have a shop specially meant for powder coat.

Thank you would look into this. What happens if some parts are mixed with plastic and the plastic portions cannot be removed?

If the plastic is unable to remove, then most likely your chassis unable to do. All plastic must be removed.

If lets say the parts are a mixture of plastic and metal. They have to remove it also. If unable to remove, please do not proceed.

Powder coat is expensive. Of cause it has a better finishing than spraying and a more even out surface.

I did it for my 900D. Total cost $2xx. Due to the size of it.

Thanks for the info. I'll consider it carefully. My casing is the 540 air.

Highly not recommendable. 540 Air chassis is made of Plastic. And it has riverts that holds them together. Requiring it to open and powder coat will be a tedious process and may not be able to fix back again.

Seriously... If you have an old but functional chassis, you can consider spray painting it with a funky color of your choice, it's fun doing it yourself.

No point getting expensive paint job on an expensive chassis.
