A few bros here got the Solasfera too.. More bling :D

If the depth is more than 62%, the diamond is cut too long.. This will cause carat wastage and the diamond may look smaller from the top view. The 62% rule is for the normal 57 facets diamond. The Solasfera is a different type of diamond. So the 62% rule doesn't apply for it.
Based on the scope and all, is $9500 for the stone worth it?

Numbers all look ok. Will need scope to help decide. But the 0.90 will look significantly bigger. If its $700 price diff, i would recommend the 0.9. E and D color i doubt most people can tell the diff.

Can give me some opinions? I see the discussions, depth cannot more then 62%. Whats all this about :s11:

Bro Grizz is right, and its some people want shorter depth in order to maximize the face up size of the diamond, should not have any effect on performance.

Based on the scope and all, is $9500 for the stone worth it?

Can't see the pics, seems to be a google mail pic ? Solasfera is controlled price and modified cut, its like a branded diamond, hard to compare with normal diamonds. Its like comparing a LV Signature Design Bag and a normal bag, is it worth the price diff ? Only you can decide. Some bros choose it others choose a normal super ideal.

Well the numbers all looks decent But i think based on the specs, they might not make it as a H&A diamond. And I agree with EricMagnusLensherr that Scope images will tell you the quality of the cut.

Do be advised that we are comparing your diamond to the LV/Prada standard. Please do not be pressured into choosing another diamond. =] I worry these days people may be chasing too much of the top tier and its out of their budget and they feel that they must simply due to peer pressure!

Your call bro.. People go for the Solasfera for the superior scintillation.. The diamond is priced higher than those 57 facets one.. But if you compare the Solasera with other modifed rounds like Brilliant Rose, Gabriel, etc. The Solasfera is priced the lowest.

If the price is worth it for Solasfera or a 57 facets, it's your call.. See if your eyes likes that added shine.
If the price is worth it if compared to other Modfied rounds, then it's definetly a yes.

Well, at the very least the Solasfera scope image is very much guaranteed. So not much worry about that. Its always more about whether you're willing to pay the extra 20% RAP over a normal brilliant round and on top of that, whether you like the actual scintillations of the diamond. =] I'm sure you like it that's why you chose it.

But in any case you might want to check other modified cuts and compare the pricing too!

Thanks guys! I understand your points. Yeaa its a special cut. I didnt know much about diamonds till i went down to afew places to check them out. Last time people look at color grade and clarity.

Now times have changed. Need to have triple excellent and the table, depth all those need to take into consideration.

Hmm... This is from JP Super Ideal Diamonds range. That's mean that they may not be a H&A diamonds?

What you mean by 0.9 will look significantly bigger? Sorry newbie here. Is it because of the table?

No problem! Thanks for the report of the pics. I'll go look at the original bigger ones when I have access to pc, but even based on this I can only say the hearts are decent. But like I have mentioned solasfera stock is more restricted. If you want you could try asking for another one with better hearts, but it will still boil down to what JP has available

He too strict la, what he means is that he won't choose it and it will not be H&A to him.*Hahaha. His defination is only based on his criteria and preference, and is not general to every one. i guess he forgot to mention that. Anyway, no worries, it IS within what most people consider H&A even if its outside bro limited's criteria. The rest will be down to scopes.

Sorry, not significantly, but visibly. The table is part of the reason. The other reason is that it IS physically bigger. One of the numbers you posted is the dimensions of the diamond and that includes the diameter and its 0.22mm bigger which should be visible

These days, buying a diamonds is not easy as before. You need to be well equipped with knowledge.

Is the table, depth and angle important??

I think that is the best of the best within my budget. Its 0.71ct D color vs1 with excellent polish and symmetry and fluorescence none. I know premium stones dont have excellent cut so im fine with it.

Is the table, depth and angle important??

Table and angles for determining the characteristic of the diamond (more white light return, brilliance or more color light return, fire), as well as leakage and contrast patterns.

Depth is mainly to help determine the face up size of the diamond. But don't worry too much about this as this is a mainly a function of the crown angles, pavilion angle and girdle

Your stone Solasfera is modified cut and cut to their own standards, these don't really apply. Hahaha. For example while most people will not like lower girdles of 85% on a normal H&A, most Solasfera's are cut to 85% and even above. So, normal rules don't apply.

Bro, this stone is already a branded cut ! Hahahah. It was designed and cut to maximize light return and it definitely does its job better then any H&A.

I see i see. These rules apply to the normal round cut and not to those modified cut right?
But hey Eric, based on this data below, this stone should be decent?

Measurements: 5.74 - 5.78 x 3.57mm
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Excellent
Fluorescence: None

Total Depth: 62%
Table Size: 54%
Crown Angle: 34.6%
Pavilion Depth: 43.5%

JP sent me quite afew data sheets but you know, its says confidential :s13: Dont know whether can share here. I think they are pretty confident to show me the scope as i can compare and look at it thoroughly, right?!

I appreciated all the information provided. It gives me a better understanding of what i am buying.

Pictures looks great! Modified rounds don't have Cut gradings. When GIA grades cuts, they follow a certain range of proportions... like Table % must be between 52-60%, etc. *this is not the exact range*
For modified rounds, they are cut different so these set of proportion range cannot be used because it is meant to be cut differently.. These range is only used for those 57 facets ones.. That's why for fancy shape diamonds like heart shape, pear shape, etc, they do not have Cut grading too.

This is where the scope images are extremely important. Even though the certificate doesn't write the cut grading, you can use the scopes to analyze the cut yourself. :)

The closest Modified Round in the market that is comparable to the Solasfera is the Destinee Royale. It has 81 facets and 10 H/A too. Last I check, the a 0.70 F VS1 costs about $15k after discount. lol

Thanks for the information. It doesn't seem easy when coming to choosing a diamond. I will try to get the scope images first.

Btw anyone went to Vivodiamonds before? How r they?

The Destinee ex? This solasfera with 91 facets and 10 H&A, 0.71ct D VS1 cost lesser than $15k. That means its a good buy?

The reviews about Vivodiamonds not that good. Someone in the forum says they created bots to like their own FB page. Some even commented their after sales service is F-up. (Dont quote me #justsaying)

So i skip them and went to JP instead, so far no bad reviews on them yet. Went down last sunday, their service is pretty good. I made an appointment with them again later this afternoon.

Gonna eat grass soon ;)

This is probably a triple 0 AGS stone. Based on pavilion depth, I think the pavilion angle would be pushing 41.0... seems more like 41.1 in which case some might not call it super ideal already... Is this a JP super ideal ? doesn't really seem like it. But is it decent, i would say most definitely. And of course of if the scopes are good, it helps as well. It seems pretty balanced based on the numbers given, but information also a bit basic. hahahaha. Never knew JP provided data sheets... I thought just the specs via email or the cert numbers then we ownself check online. hahahaha

Defnitely a better buy then Destinee Royale ba... Unless you like brands... Branded Brand (Destinee) from Branded Shop ( I guess Lee Hwa is the best among B&M Chains ?) from Branded Supplier (De Beers... Actually Destinee under De Beers..) and Branded Cutter (AMC... Also under De Beers...)... Brand all over then pay lor. hahaha.

The readings are from the Solasfera. Not really data sheets. They sent me the 2 pics which i upload earlier along with the GIA and Solasfera cert.
