Hi need some advice from experts here.
0.65 E VVS2 Trip ex. GIA. HCA SCORE 1.9. $5k
0.8 E SI1 trip ex GIA. HCA 0.5. $6.6k
1.09 L SI1 trip ex GIA. HCA not counted.$ 7k
Withour setting

are these diamond overpriced?

I bought a 0.65 vs2 E for 5.8k. HCA is 1.1 though. urs seems reasonable.

Hi,

I intending to propose to my gf and my budget for the proposer ring is $3.5k range. Just like to know which reputable jewelry outlet is recommended if i intend to get a 0.3 carat?

bought this for my gf! :D

was shown 2 diamonds as follows:

0.38 , G, VVS1
0.32, E, VS1

GIA report

in the end, I go for the color (E) over clarity (VS1 over VVS1) cos my gf like it (cos 0.32 the sparkle is better then the 0.38 one which I also personally finds so)...:)

waiting for the scope pics now.

here's my scope! :s12:

Have you guys tried contacting Carat Society? They are diamond traders that offer better much prices than the retailers. However you will have to place a deposit before they bring the diamond in. I think they only do 0.7ct and above.

thanks for all the assurance on white gold!
I am still going to take the leap of faith and go for rose gold :s13:
gotten some "guidelines" from her bestie that she likes rose gold..should have figured it out because she has been wearing rose gold color watches

Both choices look good. I'm sure your partner will love either.

I would go for rose gold myself :D

Just a quick question ,

Assuming same color , clarity and cut the same
a 3.8 -3.9 carat compared to a 4.1 carat , is the price jump very significant ? should I actually go for a 3.8 - 3.9 instead ?

I read on some website that there's a magic number for diamond such as 0.5 , 0.7 etc. Does it only apply to 0.5 and above ?

I think a 0.38 or 0.39 won't have a significant jump in price when you're comparing them to a 0.41 rock..

Maybe the jump is more significant for 0.7 and up..

in no way a diamond expert but some of my friends are "prosumers"

do you have the full specs - L x W x D, crown height, pavilion depth?

the proportions are close to a 60/60 stone - you get more brilliance/ appearance of a larger stone but MAY sacrifice fire as well as scintillation.

I know for an engagement most guys here aim for high color (colourless - D/E/F) but in reality for stones <1 carat a good cut, under most lighting conditions, trumps all other "C"s.

One near-tai tai I vaguely know loves her rocks, and I replicate here her philosophy

1. Set a carat weight - which carat will you NOT go below?
2. Set a budget
3. Within the budget, look for the best cut. AGS0 is more stringent than GIA Ex. Do not settle for anything other than AGS or GIA. If GIA Ex - evaluate the proportions critically.
- H&A, being a subset of an ideally cut stone, is fantastic if you are into it. However, bear in mind that non-H&A stones can be as expertly cut and look equally spectacular. One usually pays a (highish) premium for H&A since retailers set the game.
- For romantic purposes, H&A are nice. But you will NOT see hearts & arrows in your diamond once set into a ring. H&A were a cute Japanese phenomenon that took off hugely (thanks in part to shrewd marketing).
4. Colour - some girls are more colour-sensitive than others, and can detect a faint yellow tinge where guys can't. Many H I J stones face up perfectly white - may only disclose a very faint yellow if viewed at an angle or if set beside a colourless stone. Some in fact prefer a warm white (HIJ) over icy white (DEF). In a (ring) setting, the superb light effects due to a good cut will supersede usual perception of colour.
5. VS2 and above, eye-clean SIs.

This way she maximises the carat weight for each purchase, while ensuring the stone performs well in most social situations - Big (carat) and Flashy (cut) - without overpaying for barely noticeable "C"s.

But in the end nothing beats sighting the stone - having it in your hand and turning it around.

IMO Singapore stones aren't the most competitively priced in the world, but I repeat I'm not an expert. Anything bought from a London jeweller's is equally eye-wateringly priced anyway.

Good sharing.

I think it's quite a good buy... I paid $8.5k for a 0.721 E VVS1 w/o setting. anw, the cushion brellia is a really brilliant rock. :) looks like halo setting is quite pops eh. haha..

I'm sure you'll be happy with your product!

I can't upload images over here which is v weird. Junior member cannot upload links too :( Amyway, I have created an album on photobucket with a username of shermainelimxn, (Lim Shermaine)

There is my 3d rendering and diamond scope and specs. there are two designs.
I think i will chose the setting with the curve prong and the silver setting. What do you guys think? which is nicer? And is the specs of the diamond good?

Appreciate if you all can go there and take a look. Thanks!
