for clarity, i feel VS2 is the minimum. then again different diamonds have inclusions at different spots. a VS2 diamond with side inclusion may look better than a VS1 diamond with centre inclusion.

yea me too think VS2 is good enough.

to spot smaller inclusions with naked eyes could be difficult - must use a 10x loupe/magnifier looking out for any visible blemishes such as black spots, scratches, chips on girdle, etc.

for >1 ct diamond (GIA diamond grading report), there is an image of the diamond clarity characteristics which shows where the inclusions are. so can use that to check against the actual diamond.

types of inclusion:

$8k can get 0.7-0.8 carat inclusive of standard setting for super ideal diamond. if you want brellia/octavia, add about 20% more. if you want more elaborate setting, all in all should be about $10k.[/QUOTE]

Ohh many thanks!! And congrats!! Ur diamond loooks VERY big!!

if u want the halo effect (makes diamond looks big), add another $1.2k or more :D

Halo setting: A high-carat center diamond looks enormous in a halo setting. And a quarter-, third- or half-carat diamond can look, by some estimates, as much as a half a carat larger. The halo ring is a setting that encircles a center gemstone in a collection of round pavé or micro-pavé diamonds (or faceted color gemstones).

Omg! Very pretty and big!! :s12: Where did he propose?

This is a photo I took. The arrows is more obvious when you see the diamond exactly at the top. It took me a few tries to capture all 8 arrows at the front. :)

yes! i remembered your diamond that's why i was wondering why mine doesn't look like that. maybe the setting affects the appearance also. mine looks big because of the illusion from the halo setting. :s13: :s13:

haha he proposed at my house in front of my parents. :o oh well, if in public i think i will be very paiseh also.

you can go down to JP for a non obligatory diamond lesson. then go a few shops to survey prices, or you can purchase a diamond online after you have more knowledge on what to look out for.

most importantly, decide your budget and try to work within it.

a ring takes about 6-8 weeks to be crafted. valentine's day will be a very hot date, so you should probably have some more buffer time.

Yea, that's the dinner after that. Haha couldn't take my eyes off the ring so kept taking pictures. :p

Sugar icing, your setting is custome made? How much you paid for it?

Mine is the octagon diamond so i just requested for a halo following the shape of the diamond. Don't think it's custom made cos i saw it in their octagon youtube video. The setting is $1.2k.

Any comment on this GIA 1193959861 ?
HCA - 1.7 but other than that, others should be Super Ideal specs.
i understand will need those H&A and asset scope to make a better judgement. will head down to take a look as i got some concern about the clarity.
