Looking at 0.47/0.5ct without side diamonds with just plain 4 claw settings.

Not sure if my 3.5k/4k budget permits?

bluenile - building your own ring seems to be cheaper than JP? anyone use bluenile? i'm planning to go JP next week

The quality of bluenile diamonds are much lower compared to JP. Biggest issue with them is you're buying "blind". You don't know what you're getting until your package arrives. They have no quality control over their diamonds and settings since they don't inspect the diamonds they sell.

Went for my appointment with jp. Anyone can enlighten me why some super ideal diamond are gia and some are ags. Any difference or any should avoid?

GIA and AGS is ok. Main difference between them is that AGS also grades the light performance. GIA only grades the Cut by checking the proportions.
That being said, not all AGS Ideal are Super Ideal either.. You will need to see the diamond through the scopes to confirm it.

You should avoid those other certificates that have looser standards like IGI, etc.. To be safe, just stick to GIA and AGS.

It you put side by side can tell la. its not a huge difference actually, but the price shaved off quite abit too.

it looks pretty similar. therefore if your budget is within 4k, advisable to go for high 0.4X

I went to JP 2 weeks ago and was really impressed with their service. I was looking around for a brellia cushion diamond our anniversary as the old ring was just a small 0.3C with no bling. So after much research and reading good reviews here i went to JP for an appointment last week. Their diamonds were amazing! I initially settled with 0.56C G VVS1. After much thinking o convince myself to upgrade it to at least 0.7C as i felt 0.3 to 0.56 might not be a big jump. So I made another appointment and settled with a 0.78C G VS1. I chose a halo setting. I hope my wife will love it! Thank you all for the rich amount of infomation available here.

HAHAHAHA! I upgraded 6months after I got my first ring. But just upgrade within 2 years so u can get the full value of diamond trade in. If not you need to pay a recertification fee to get the full value of diamond trade in.

The HCA is over the 1.4 score mark le.. If I remember correctly, the HCA is just to check if the diamond is worth considering or not.. I don't think this diamond is a Super ideal spec..

Finally selected everything

Some of you guys might have seen my previous posts... Just wanted to update that after a lot of deliberation and assistance by JP, I finally decided on the Super Ideal 0.71 E VS1. But now I am in a dilemma. I saw the scopes at the shop but to be honest I couldn't really tell what I was seeing la -_-

I was v excited so I confirmed the diamond and settings etc. (now just need to wait for bf to pay ). I didn't request for the scopes to be sent to me...now having second thoughts. Should I get them to send?

bought a 0.91 (Super ideal, F, VS1) + side diamonds setting for 9.3k...scope looks pretty symmetrical...pretty happy about the deal...now to think of a way to propose...

how did u get this price?? i take it that side diamonds setting cost around 1k,

meaning the 0.91 super ideal is only 8.3k. thats the same price as my 0.75 super Ideal D vs2
