Got my ring from Jann Paul today! Was hoping to collect it directly from Jann and talk a while with him. but he was busy so was served by the other sales assistants from HOH. At least before I left, he asked me whether I like my ring :)

Best part was despite me already knowing about the ring, my fiance still managed to give me a proper surpise proposal with this ring. He had bought a rotating crystal stand and when I went to the toilet, he went to prepare. Than he brought me to where he first asked me to be his gf, with a heartfelt speech, he took out the crystal stand with the ring on it( Of course I already know what the ring looks like haha) :)

Here's the bling(Cushion Brellia with halo):

JP didn't have time to take professional pics for my ring because we were in a rush to collect it today as my fiance and I are flying off tomorrow. He told us he wants to take pics of it the next time we come back for polishing :s13:

Nice! Where did he get the rotating crystal stand? Can share?

hi ppl, need your advice pls...

my gf n i went to jann paul to look for engagement ring.. although we like their service n all, we decided to shop ard.

we went to another place called "yuan dong" at bukit merah. yuan dong selling this particular rock which we think is really bang for buck, so we placed a $1k deposit for it (didnt pay full price bcuz we wanna think abt the ring design).

all this while jann paul has been emailing my gf, asking if she wanna look again at the rocks blah blah, so my gf told him the specs of the rock and the price from yuan dong and asked if he got something similar.

jann paul asked for the GIA number, and subsequently told my gf that he can get the exact same rock at a lower price, and he also claimed that the rock is currently located in india...

but i remember the lady at yuan dong show us the GIA number inscription on the rock using the magnifier. it was only the last 4 digit though..

now we are extremely confused on who to trust..

sorry for the wall of text, but really need some help here.. thx guys..

Maybe JP meant he got a similar diamond? But i must say while JP service is top notch, they can be too 'helpful'.

That said alot of forumers here have good reviews of them but personally they were too helpful for comfort for me and my SO. I noticed most JP rings sold are Cushion Brellias <- so called their trademark

I really like the services and diamonds plus settings i saw at fairy Inc followed by vivo than JP. just my 2 cents.

that's very possible:s12:

in fact they are, probably both right. alot of shops get their diamonds on "consignments" meaning yuan dong simply "borrowed" the diamond from a supplier in india for a limited time.

online vendors call this "drop shipping" where they just act as a middle man and sell a diamond as a third party

I know bluenile does alot of drop shipping thats why they are unable to provide any scopes because they dont even physically carry their diamonds

I went to Love n Co, Vivo, Fairy's inc, Ling, Lee Hwa and Larrys before.. I find that JP has the best quality diamonds. They seem to be the only ones who are willing to share so much info and using all the scopes to see the diamond. We spent like 2 hrs just learning about diamonds from them.. (plus another hour to discuss settings =:p). I feel if I'm spending thousands of dollars on something, I need to know I'm getting the bestt one. It's once in a lifetime after all..

I compared my ring to my mum's diamonds.. Even though my mum's ones are bigger, I can really see mine outshines hers by alot. After that, I'm even more convinced that the quality is the way to go :)

Gone for my appointment with JP. I'll rate their diamonds and service 5/5 stars! They're really knowledgeable and very fast with their email replies.

My gf showed me a few ring pics.. I was feeling creative and did a rough sketch of a design I have in mind. My gf likes those Victorian design.. So I gave this idea to JP for a more Victorian look..

This is what they come up with.. I'm really pleased with the design.. This was better and easier than what I expected :)
They made is really simple for me..

Hi, for those who bought their e ring from JP, when you go down and collect you ring, did they ask you to check the GIA/ AGS number again of the diamond?

Because I did not.

And just so happen today I saw on JP's facebook they took some pics of someone else's ring and the specs of that diamond are exactly the same as my diamond. 0.532C E VS1. I'm wondering what are the odds of 2 diamonds having the exact same specs. Is it common?

its very possible :s12:
why don't you go down to check it just in case? If you had a magnifying glass you can check it too it's on the girdle, your design did not block the girdle, it's pretty easy to find it :s12:

When I placed a deposit for mine, they showed me my diamond number. When I collected my diamond ring, they showed me the number again. It might be possible for 2 different diamonds with the same specs. You should probably call them to check.

It does look Europeanish.. Haha. The ring looks quite big. Does she like big rings? What are the side diamonds? They look like emerald cuts..

Looks like a fashion ring instead, side view not bad actually, but quite a chunky band making the diamond seems smaller than it suppose to be. Anyway, it's your own preference thats count.

What girls doesn't like big diamonds?? haha.. Their mentality is like the bigger the better.. but they tend to forget how expensive diamonds are :slant:

The side diamonds are tapered baguette :)

She is into fashion.. I got hints that she like thicker bands for that more solid feel.. She likes wearing those colorful big chunky fashion rings.. so I think this will suit well with her personality..

I wanted something like this.. where the band is more solid and chunkier.. But I want it to still look simple and "neat"... so they recommended the tapered baguette for side diamonds instead.

And I wanted to see more of the main diamond, something like this

but without the bars so it won't block the view.

And I'm still undecided between the Solasfera or the Super Ideal one.. Or maybe the Brellia?? Argh... so many decisions to make!! :s11: But I'm leaning towards the Solasfera...

Oops, meant thicker bands.. Haha. The side baguette does help balance the "messiness" in bigger bands

I think the Brellia might look good on your setting too.. The squarish brellia can go well the the rectangulish side diamonds?? But that's just my opinion :)

Went down to check my diamond today and yup my diamond is the correct one :)

I'm going to pour a bit of cold water here. About this going down to check my diamond, frankly speaking I'm not very happy having to make an extra trip down to check the number especially it was said by they themselves that they will only let the customer bring back the ring after he/she has rechecked the cert number and diamond. I don't know why on that day I wasn't told to do so, perhaps they forgot.

Also secondly regarding the design of my ring, I wasn't given an in depth discussion about the design. I was shown the 3D pictures even when me and my fiancé had some queries about it, it was mostly through emails and phone calls. I didn't really sit down and discuss. And when we went down to confirm the design and exchange our invoice, we were just briefly acknowledged by Jann. Most of the time I was served by the sales assistants, not by any of the boys. And I only really talked to Jann once during when I picked the cushion brellia.

Comparing to the other forumers who had great service having met Jann or the others several times I felt a little shortchanged because they committed mistakes to me and I didn't really had chance to have an in depth talk except during the tutorial( that was also cut slightly short because they were closing).

All in all I rathe their service probably 3.5-4/5 because they were willing to rush out the ring for me and also willing to upgrade my diamond.
