Is JannPaul and House of Hung the same? I went yesterday and was entertained by Sam who was very knowledgeable. After a lengthy discussion and mix-matching, I settled for a .44ct Solasfera G VVS2.

wah i long time never come back online le. so many new bro's diamond shopping again! Anyway magicdriplet and Lun-er, both of you got a nice diamond there!
Between G and F, you should arrange to do a blind test. Most people can't tell the difference. But some people may be able to. Sometimes a yellow hue is seen due to the reflection of the lights. And remember the best way to look at a diamond is from the apex pointing up!

magicdriplet, being critical, the 11 & 12 O' Clock arrow stems looks off a little. (might be due to the angle of the shot taken.) And the V, of the Hearts look a little uneven. But it looks relatively uniformed

Lun-er, the arrow's stem on the 1 O'clock position seems a little off, resulting in your heart's image also abit off. But your heart's image look more consistent. As a result a better cut. =]

Does the stem affect anything? How about the bottom of the arrow?

Any other good brands to recommend other than JP? Spoke to Aaron from JP friendly and knowledgable. Would like to have a second option before settling a stone with JP. Budget is 4 to 5k

Hi everyone! I'm going to try my luck here for any comments. I'm stationed overseas for some years and was at a Diamond Dealer in Amsterdam. I'm looking for a proposal ring and was quoted the following GIA certified diamonds inclusive of 6-prong setting on 18carat white gold:

0.70 E SI1 - 4200 euros (~SG7100)
0.70 H SI1 - 3445 euros (~SG5822)
0.70 H VS1 - 4000 euros (~SG6760)

Sorry I do not have more details, so any opinions are welcomed...are these price ranges similar to ranges in Singapore?

Pricing looks about the same as SG.. those prices net prices after you claim back the tax at airport?

There's alot of factors that can affect the price though.. very hard to give an accurate opinion.. is it GIA certificate? Triple Exc? Did you try running the HCA calculator on them? Try not to get a 0.70 cos of the price jump.. try to go for 0.7x

After seeing the certificate, the pricing is on the high side for that specs..

The 0.70 H SI1 cost ~SG5822. For that price, you can get a Super Ideal 0.6++ in higher color and clarity. The 0.70 have 63% depth which makes the diamond look smaller from the top.. so in the end, it might even look the same size as a 0.6++ diamond. Try to go for minimum Excellent grading for the cut, polish and symmetry.

Thanks, yes, I plan to go down to JP when I'm back. I think I will get a better idea of what we want there. Sometimes it looks like a gimmick overseas when they factor in already the 21% tax back. That makes the diamonds there really much more expensive than Singapore! I saw in another shop for 1.01C , G colour and VS1 or SI1 going for ~23k euros.
