u can visually see the difference between D, E, F... IF, VVS1, VVS2, VS1, VS2 ah.. My eye not so power de.. =:p

Ehhhh ...What I meant not this kinda difference lah Bro... it is how the diamonds performs which is dependent on the CUT not the colour/clarity/carat. If you just buy the diamond based on the later 3, then you will be paying more for less, might as well get a crystal better. :D

D color not cheap.. drop to F color and can save a bit.. and also do look around other shops if they do not have one to fit your requirements n budget..

Yeah, agree that the colour jump is pretty costly. There is a difference of > $1k btw a 0.788 D VVS1 and a 0.721 E VVS1 cushion brellia.

I thought 0.067ct didn't matter that much, cuz the "dimensions" on the cert only differ by 0.1mm or so?

It's difficult to compare diamonds from different jewelry shops. As other bros mentioned here before too, stores uses very strong lighting. Any reflective object will shine and diamonds, whether good or badly cut will look nice and shiny. When you see the diamond under normal lighting environments like ur home, office or outdoor, it will look entirely different. Judging using only your eyes in jewelry store can be deceiving. So how to check? Use the ASET and Hearts and arrows scope.

I've seen my diamond on my gf's hands against her friends diamond rings, and we could see a difference. Even against branded ones like Tiffany.. Though not all Tiffany rings are Exc cuts. Some are VGs too.

Bro, "Out of the 4Cs, diamond cut has the biggest impact on sparkle, brilliance and fire. A diamond's cut quality is a fine balance of proportions and angles, and most diamonds in the marketplace are average cuts. A well-cut diamond will sparkle more and will be livelier than a diamond that is poorly cut. When you are evaluating the 4Cs, understand that Cut trumps the others by turning a pebble of a diamond into a sparkling gem." quoted from pricescope.

It is really a personal preference whether you like the look of the solasfera or the classic round. :)

I don't agree that the more cut the better.
More cut = more facets = more sparkles = more scintillation
But it also means more facets = smaller facets = stronger but smaller fire

It depends on the light return too. If it has light leakages then more cuts also no use because its not reflecting back.

You'll get what I mean in this video. More but smaller fire verus bigger and less fire. It's see which suites your taste.

Surprisingly, I can see a much bigger difference in the Solasfera melees. Thinking of using them for the wedding band side diamonds =:p

I think size plays a part too.. on a small ct diamond too many facets may make it look too 'busy'.. casual onlookers might think it's a few small diamonds put together.. :s13:

Hello fellow brothers and sisters,

I went down to JannPaul and got a rough idea on what I wanted already.
Then I came across this website by etiqa (maybank's insurance) like great eastern like that. They are doing this photo contest to win tickets to korea.
I was hoping I can propose in jeju creating a beautiful memory for us. (Cus everyone claiming that singaporeans propose by buying bto.)

So I was hoping you guys can help me make that beautiful moment possible.

https://www.campaignizer.com/etiqa_lookingoutforyou/photo.aspx?id=87&ref=tag=5

I'd probably win if my vote is the highest among everyone by end may.

Really hope the community will lend me a hand :)

Ian

Thanks bro reitrac =:p

See how sensitive you are to seeing colours: Test yourself: Color Test - Online Color Challenge | X-Rite A score below 20 is good, and below 10 is excellent. :D

I scored a 4 :D

Price sounds consistent with the other bros.. HCA score is good but needs to be looked at with the scopes. Though JP specializes in Super Ideal cuts, it shouldn't be a problem.. No harm sharing your scope images when you receive them :)

Advise is to get a bigger rock rather than so high clarity. You almost can't tell the difference for clarity but it's the C that cost the most after cut.

Agree. Would prioritise carat over colour and clarity. I wanted a G and VS2 in the 0.75ct range but since that was not available I had to pay more for a VVS2.
