Just received the scope image of the diamond I reserved.

0.468, D, VS1, Super Ideal cut and graded Ideal 0 by AGS Lab

Looking at the actual diamond pic, why does the center area (table) appears slightly blur? Anyone can advise? Thank you.

In a dilemma... even after i have read through the posts in this thread.

Would like to seek more opinion on whether to get a 0.92 E VVS2 Solasfera at $18k or 0.9 D VVS1 Super Ideal at $16k?

Are the prices reasonable? Thank you.

I got my super ideal F, 1.01, vs2 for 14.5k. Not sure if it's really worth paying so much for vvs1 and D color. I rather have a bigger carat.

Weird. I'm pretty sure that the ring my fiancé got me earlier this year has this exact spec and included settings. Was somewhat cheaper than your price though. :X

Just to share opinion and get comments:

Looking to buy engagement ring soon, went to TianPo to see HoF H&A triple ideal cut and JP Hearts & Arrows super ideal cut.

Strangely, my spouse-to-be after viewing JP diamond, she told me that JP Hearts & Arrows super ideal cut looks like don't sparkle more (no matter how she turns the diamond) than TianPo HoF H&A. She is quite happy with the way TP HoF sparkles even with little lighting.

While this few days I've been reading up quite alot of info, I am thinking if super ideal cut quality is much better/higher than triple ideal cut, why is it that their super ideal cut cost so much cheaper than triple ideal cut?

And now I am thinking an analogy;

1) Super ideal cut is like ferrari,
2) Triple ideal cut (TP HoF) is like skyline

Obviously ferrari outruns skyline, but you telling me ferrari which performs better than skyline and it's price is so much cheaper than skyline then I am abit sceptical. Plus the AGS cert didn't state "Super Ideal" in symmetry or cut grading also.

Even you tell me TianPo HoF is international strong branding and patented with advertisements and they got shop rental fees to pay, while JP is more of local branding with advertisements mainly by words of mouth or through facebook, the price of JP round brilliant solitare super ideal cut (which is better than ideal cut) still should not be of so huge margin/cheaper than TP HoF.

She's been telling me "Pian Yi Mei Hao Huo" (Cheap stuffs sure of not good quality) and now I'am leaning towards TianPo HoF a little.

Note: By the way, I am not out to advertise for TianPo or put JP down. Just that I am OK to pay extra for a trusted brand of good diamond and I am also NOT OK to pay if the diamond doesn't performs. Its a little dilemma here but hope you guys know it's a few thousands of dollars for a ring.

NOTE NOTE: I am not working for any jewelry shop just in case you still think I am advertising for any jewelry shop or putting competitor down.

Uploaded :)
0.49ct is a very nice size.. If it hit 0.50ct it'll cost alot more.

Well, both Tian Po HOF and JP Super Ideal Cuts are 57 facets with 8 Hearts & Arrows. Essentially, they are cut 57 times with 8 hearts & arrows patterning. The only difference is how good/accurately these 57 facets are cut.

Brands often label and give their good 57 facets a name. Just like how Tian Po called theirs "Hearts on Fire", Lee Hwa calls theirs "Destinee", or Larry calls theirs "Lazare". Essentially, they are all 57 facets with 8 Hearts & Arrows, just called diff names. These diamonds are often called the "Ideal Cut".

The term "Super Ideal Cut" is a quality level of the Cut. When a 57 facets diamond is cut properly to the highest standard, it's called a "Super Ideal Cut" quality or "True Hearts & Arrows". Whether Tian Po's HOF or others are of Super Ideal Cut quality, we will not know. This is because, to check if a diamond is a Super Ideal Cut quality, you need to use the Ideal, ASET and Hearts and arrows scope. Unfortunately, these brands does not show anything. So we can't judge it.

So that's the quality difference.

In terms of pricing, JP's Super Ideal Cut is way reasonable (I think almost half or more?) compared to Tian Poh's HOF. It's hard to digest why one company can sell a better quality diamond but at a much lower price compared to others. But it's mainly due to profit margins. So you can imagine how much these brands are earning per diamond. lol.

Just pop in Cartier, Harry Winston and Tiffany's.
Tiffany's diamonds are even more expensive than Tian Poh's HOF and they are not even certified by GIA or AGS. They are certified by Tiffany themselves. Higher price does not equate to better quality in diamond sense.

I don't agree that "cheap stuffs sure of not good quality".
Consumers are getting more savy in their purchase now. It pays to do your homework before making a decision or in this case, it saves you $$. lol.
Anyway, all the retail stores above uses crazily high intensity lighting. I have compared my rock from JP with my friend's from LeeHwa at a neutral condition. JP's was much better.

No worries bro, we're all here to help to save each other $$ :)

Received my ring design 3d pics. Going for something more interesting like a rope twist design.. but I’m not sure.. or should I go for something more classic and let the main diamond stand and show for itself? Any comments?
