anything to improve? anything to take note if I wish to buy another diamond.....

no need to worry lah, bro. JP got stringent QA/QC checks for their diamonds.. and their price are pretty reasonable for the quality you're getting. :)

i was very happy with the one i got!

Got my ring design with side diamonds. I think I prefer this over the braided plain one. I was thinking of having the small diamonds surrounding the while ring but they recommended me not to because cannot resize in the future. Any thoughts?

thanks! but i am now wondering abt whether the amount that I have forked out is rly worth the value of the diamond...

For me, a super ideal will suffice. I was shown a super ideal 0.51carat, F, VVS2 for $4.25k. In the end I got a super ideal 0.468carat, D, VS1 for $3.5k as my gf finger size is quite small and could have used the money for better setting. If you want to maximise your money, you can get a bigger carat instead.

Anyway, I also decided on the diamond on my first visit and took about 3 weeks (another 2 visits) to decide on the customised setting.

I think the advice was good. Anyway, normally your gf won't turn the ring around and most of the time only the top and side can be seen or which people want to look at. No point getting it fully surrounded.

Yup, second what fusionz mentioned (personally I think Kim K's ring is ugly due to the size of the diamond). If you think your WTB will like the Solasfera then that's all that matters. If you think $7.9k is high, you can always save some $$$ by dropping 1-2 grades of color (i.e. E or F) and put it to use in your honeymoon! :) I got my Brellia 0.498 F VVS1 @ $3.6k excluding setting. But one thing is the price of diamond fluctuates, so some might get it cheaper and some might not.

The Solasfera is nice. I was deciding between it and the Brellia. Depends on what you want and what is worth it to you. I thought the Solasfera was nice and quite liked the added sparkles.. But that's just my view :)

Thanks! Yeah, I thought it made sense not to do all around. They said minimum to leave a 1/4 part at the bottom to be plain.

I had the same settings as yours! And when I go home late at night, I tend to turn the ring around such that the plain part is facing upwards so as to ward off unwanted attention. Lol.

hmm i thot for the specs 7.9k is rather steep. in fact its more expensive than the 0.77carat, F, VVS1 which was presented to me.

Then go for the bigger stone! Try comparing the 2 stones side by side and see if u can tell the color D vs F apart. If can't, then makes no sense to go for D IMO. :)

For me.. I think D and E have very slight difference, but I can tell the difference between a D and F..

But when viewed alone, I think cannot really tell the difference ba..

when you put them side by side, of cos can tell the difference. But if you just look at a D, E or F alone, non experts like us can't really tell the difference unless it a G and below.

I did ask about solasfera during my recent visit and the answer was it's 20-30% more expensive.

Ultimately, it's your money. If you feel it's worth it and you feel shiok looking at the solasfera vs a super ideal then why not? End of the day, you make the decision. If you feel that the size is big enough for your gf then just stick to this size. Then decide between super ideal or solasfera and the rest of the spec.
