can! in fact the sales executive mentioned that D is v outstanding and apparent, as compared to E F G..

just wondering if solasfera diamond is rly worth that price./ dk JP got overquote :x

Best to see for yourself. To me, not that apparent. Unless comparing D to G. But that's just me. Solasfera has better scintillation whereas Brellia will have stronger fire. U can always check out other jewelers as well. Not sure if Solasfera is only carried by JP.

Thank you! I hope the rock is good.
I do not have the picture of the setting upload yet. It's a 6 prong setting which make it look slightly bigger.

Not yet finalized on the setting yet. Will be going back again to see again before crafting.

Hi all,

I have been a silent reader in this thread and it was through this thread that I got to know the existence of JP. Just like to contribute a little to this thread by sharing my shopping experience. Did a brief summary below.

JP was my last stop after I visited five other shops. I was pretty impressed by their knowledge and service standard comparing to my previous experiences. The sale person assisting me took the effort to explain everything in detail (with the aid of diagrams, tools, and comparison) to make sure that I know what I was buying. It was still impressive though I knew that this is their standard practice.

I finally settled for a super ideal cut .42 D VVS2 HCA 1.0 with plain setting for 3.45K. Overall, it was a good experience!

Thank you for your kind comment! :D

Congratz on your hoot! What setting did you choose?

I went back to JP last Sunday to view the setting once again and we found another 1 which now giving headache to which to choose.

Left was the one we decided on previously. The right one with the diamond on it is the one where we happen to shortlist on Sunday.
GF likes 6 and thin prongs to go with the ring.

Hope to get some feedbacks from anyone here! ;)

It almost looks the same to me. lol. The right one seems to sit the diamond higher. It will make the main diamond stand out more :s13:

hi guys, most of the posts seem to be on JP but i cant choose that unfortunately because 4-8 weeks not enough time for me, did not know would take so long.

Visited sookee, goldheart and citigems today, would you all recommend actually these or probably something like lovis or love and co etc? Because theirs is very good cut while i saw JP 1 is super ideal cut but i am not sure whether the grading used is the same across the board

You intending to customize your ring design? 4-8 weeks is their custom duration. If you're in a rush for ready rings, they do have it too. I think some managed to make theirs in less than a week too. You might want to check with them first.

Very good cut and Super ideal cut is a big difference.. For color and clarity grading, it should be all the same standard if its GIA. Cut wise, you need to see the cert and use the scopes.

Most shops should be able to deliver a simple setting in 1 week. The standard grading used across the board is the GIA or AGS certificates, do insist on one of these certs. Looking at standard cuts with these certs you can do a comparison on price. But if you are looking at premium cuts from the shops, it can be difficult to do a apple-to-apple comparison cos the cutting style can be different.

Now is GSS.. see which shop give the best discount lor.. :D

thanks for the replies!

Actually is the cut grade standardized ? For eg does some shop call theirs very good cut while some call the same thing excellent cut or super ideal cut? Or do they actually have to conform to some certification.

After reading so much, i decided to just call JP and make an appt for tomorrow , hopefully if its a simple design they can rush it out for me in 2-3 weeks and if the quality and cut is good with so many reviews here, probably easier for me .

GIA & AGS are the recognized certification bodies. GIA triple excellent and AGS 000 grades are commonly termed as ideal cut. JP's super ideal is basically selected from these ideal cuts based on more stringent checks. But GIA & AGS cert wise they are still the same lor. These are all standard 57 cut design. Other premium cuts like solasfera, destinee, celestial, brilliant rose etc can have more than 57 cuts, so design is different. But GIA & AGS cert wise grading still same lor..

Thanks for the comment. Lionel mentioned that the taller setting will make the diamond stand out more too. Only con is that the setting might get in the way of our daily life if she were to wear it daily.

Like stuck in pockets or knocking against the wall etc.

Currently still in a dilemma! Hahaha. =:p

Think another consideration is will she be wearing the wedding band with the diamond ring? If so, then I guess you may need the taller setting. My 2 cents.:)
