Same, I compared a super ideal and ideal (jP & HoH) under daylight condition on 3 separate occasion and still couldn't tell a very big difference. In the end, I went for the bigger ideal diamond.

The loss of brilliance is not that much when you compare the two under 'normal conditions'

However, a super ideal should be able to retain more of its monetary value when selling off.

haha wow. may i know what is your diamond specs? is it still sparkly? thats my main concern :(

I doubt so.. cert wise the super ideal is still a triple ex or ags triple 0.. shops not likely to pay more for it.. diamonds have poor resale value..

haha i am the fiancee! my bf is pretty bent on the 0.64 carat ideal cut actually he wanted to put a deposit straight away but i told him to wait while i seek more advice as i was unsure about super ideal vs ideal.

Then do you prefer more brilliance or bigger carat?

hmm, actually with a high setting, the .55 looks like a .65. haha i would want a bigger carat but i am just wondering if the brilliance is really compromised. if not i do not mind a super ideal but smaller carat.

are there any tips on comparing the brilliance? in the shop its hard to tell right..

Thanks for the reply! i am still considering because to me, when i put the .55 super ideal and .64 ideal cut side by side, i wasnt able to tell the difference though the .55 costs $4.5k.

i think i wouldnt upgrade again as i would just want to wear this as the 'original' engagement ring haha!

I suspect alot of times most of us cannot tell the difference unless there is something to compare up against under controlled settings.

You have to weigh what is more important for you and your general feel towards the diamond. Once you made the purchase do not keep looking back at the various other options that you could have otherwise selected :s13: maybe at least until the next anniversary

in normally jewellery shop hard to tell, but at JP they will show u under different lighting =) my personal opinions, I have not regretted getting the super ideal cause when I step out from the shop I can immediately see the sparkles which I have not experienced before when I had that G soliataire from Meyson.

My Meyson one was just dependant on the normal 4C, I didnt know anything about the cutting or HCA score at that point of time. It was bought couple of years ago haha. IIRC, its G VS1 0.49carat but SIG certified. So I guess, it's not that great afterall

I know what you mean. When my wife wears her brellia diamond ring, the sparkles are very obvious. When we go out to eat, I notice strangers peeping at her ring :s13:

Hahaha glad that you know what I meant and someone here agrees with me on JP's diamond =)

Not that diamonds from other sources are not good, I believe there are better diamonds out there, but I guess there is no other shop that has the same marketing strategies like Jannpaul that will educate you on what is good diamond and how to differentiate good and not that good diamonds.

Other retail shops can do stuff like 70% discount and the prices are very similar to JP's in fact, bigger carat but cost lesser, but still, I trust what I see for the minute details of the diamond.

I am one that cares alot about sparkles, because a diamond should sparkle!

Exactly! I've seen others with 1-2ct diamonds but they don't sparkle. Somehow makes the diamond look very fake..

Anyway, JP is popular for their quality and value. For the same quality in other places, they're much more expensive.

BINGO. I went to JP on a Saturday before and this is like the first time I have seen a jewellery shop that is packed. Even though bigger brands retail shop dont even get half of their store filled on a weekend. So I guess, there must be something good about JP that attracts couples =)

Just sent an e-mail to JP for an appointment.

Any idea on the price of their 0.7 ~ 0.9ct diamond? (Specs: D ~ E, VVS1 ~ VVS2)

For installment do they accept OCBC?

Last I asked about 0.7ct to 0.7ct super ideal cut colour D-F, they quoted $7k to $10k lols.

You can just call JP directly for appointment, you get a faster response =)

Installment wise I cant advice liaos
