Thx to all who have contributed in the past and present. After scouring the forums, I've received the following images for a 0.46 E VS2. HCA of 1.3. My impression is that it's pretty good and quite close in specs and pricing as compared a previous bro Integra.TypeR's stone. Comments are appreciated! :o

Collected my ring from JP :D :D :D

I upgraded my ring to a Super Ideal cut 0.52ct G VS2 with them. Vince served us and gave a thorough diamond education. At first my hubby say no need so much education since this is his second time buying a diamond. Then the more Vince explained the more we realised how little we knew.. lol. There is so much more than just the 4Cs. The certificate can only tells the basic information and there's actually a lot of things that the GIA certificate doesn't say. The first time my hubby bought the ring, he thought the Cut, Polish, Symmetry all Excellent is the best already. Back then, he only saw the hearts and arrows scope. Don't have the Ideal and Aset scope to see the light leakages.

My old ring is a 0.45ct D VVS2. According to the sales lady back then, she said this was an Ideal cut. My new JP ring is a 0.52 G VS2. I was abit apprehensive at first to downgrade the Color and Clarity since this is an upgrade ring which in my mindset is suppose to be a better ring. Then Vince showed me the difference for the Color and Clarity which I couldn't really tell. Then I learnt that what actually affects the brightness and colourful sparkles is not the Color but the Cut! When I compared the Super Ideal cut G color diamond with my old D color diamond ring, the G actually looked brighter and whiter! When I saw this, I was convinced that the Cut is way more important that the Color..

Another surprising thing I realised is the size difference. The 0.52ct looked much bigger than my 0.45ct. For 0.07ct diff, I didn't expect the size difference to be so obvious. It looked more like a 0.6ct to me.. Vince explained that the carat is the weight of the diamond only. For their Super Ideal cuts they are cut to maximise the carat weight so that it will look bigger. But of course cannot be too wide as well if not there will be light leakages. Me and my hubby was like "oohhhh..." haha.. Felt like students listening to a teacher.. :s13:

I had itchy finger and tried using the Ideal and Aset scope to see my old ring. The arrows wasn't as defined and I could spot areas of light leakages near the middle and side of my diamond. Which makes me wonder how do shops actually justify or prove that their diamond is really an Ideal or Super Ideal cut if they don't use those scopes?

All in all, super happy with my new ring :D We saved on the Color and Clarity grade and prioritised on the Cut. Didn't have to spend so much on the upgrade.. hehe

P.S. Sorry for the long post! :)

hi guys, i'm about to head down to JP for second time in hopes to finalise my diamond pick..

so far I only did some comparison between Lovis and JP, and realised although Lovis diamonds are cheaper but HCA scores are not attractive..(between 2-4), but JP consistently gives lower than 1.4 and they are confident about it.

Therefore I have one last doubt to clear - is HCA score really impt / does it really make a lot of difference? Please enlighten xiao di here.. lol

A HCA score is to sort out the lousy diamonds from the triple excellent cut diamonds.
The lower the HCA, means the cut has better proportions and has lesser light leakage. Personally i wouldnt really consider above 2. lol.

HCA only let's you eliminate bad ones. you still have to really see the aset scopes and such to see the light leakage and alignment of the hearts and arrows.
