Meh-son (Finale)

UPDATE cos' I finally had the time to go down to Meyson today to get the ring looked at.

After verifying my details and the ring, the salesman said I had to pay $33 to get it fixed.

My first reaction, which I did verbalise abit too loudly, was, "Err ... Why should I?"

He was abit taken aback at first, so I explained nicely that based on the engraved date (02.06.17) I have only been wearing the ring for two months ... So it's not very acceptable standards of a wedding ring that's supposed to last for quite a good part of my lifetime.

Then he said maybe I was rough with it *looks down at my own nicely manicured fingers* but I told him if he could please kindly check the prongs/setting and see if this will be a recurring problem. I don't really wanna pay and end up with another loose diamond dropping off two months later.

He then said he will have to send it in for them to check if there's anything wrong with the ring itself. And if there is a workmanship issue, then they'll replace it. If not I will have to er, pay up. He'll call to let me know in 2 weeks.

That's fine with me, until ... before I left the shop, in a pretty accusatory tone, he said, "that's why, when you first purchased the ring, we got tell you to bring it back once every 6 months for us to check".

My blood semi-boiled upon hearing that!!! So I told him, "yup, but since I purchased in March, that's only FIVE months from date of purchase". And said thank you and walked out ...

tldr: Meyson wanted to charge me $33, I refused to pay because I'm a little kiam siap, ok.

So ... Meyson never called me to update me as to whether I had to pay the $33, but one fine day I received an SMS saying my ring was ready for collection.

Went down yesterday, and because there was nothing written on the invoice, they did not have any idea whether they were supposed to charge me or not HAHA. Anyway, the manager said, as a gesture of goodwill they will waive it off this time round.

I asked whether this would be a recurring problem (melee dropping off a half eternity wedding band), he said I was advised to take my ring back for checking once every 6 months. Then he stopped himself and said, since mine dropped so fast, I am advised/expected to bring it back once every TWO months now.

He also hinted it could be the way I was wearing my ring, at that point I wanted to shove my JP engagement ring (also with melee) in his face and ask, then how come this is still so perfectly nice? :vijayadmin:

Case closed for now, touch wood.

Just curious when did you get this JP quote for ideal cut 0.51ct?

and how do you check whether is it the ideal cut close to the Super ideal cut?

last week. is their house of hung inventory actually so not exactly under them though i understand both bosses are father and son from wat i read ard here.

i see it myself through the aset scope, heart and arrow scope, ideal scope and naked eye, as well as told by the sales person. compared to super ideal, sure got difference. but to me i think it is very minimal and for the price i think this is a better choice.

I got quoted for the below in JP, which do you think is more worthy??

All are Super Ideal:

0.42, E, VS1 - 2,750
0.44, E, VS1 - 2,950

Thanks!

Hi All,

All our Super Ideal:

0.42, F, VS1 - 2,650
0.42, E, VS1 - 2,750
0.44, E, VS1 - 2,950

Thanks!

With this budget i'll prefer 0.5x F, VS2 ideal and not super ideal. Unless your partner prefer a smaller diamond....

Anyone heard of fonder diamond? Their concept is rather interesting as they openly show all the diamond's info on their website with the cert details and price for all to see. Wanted to get a diamond for proposal from them but there aren't much reviews.

I see. I read up on the threads on fonder diamond was that the HCA scoring was not the best way to judge the diamonds.

I had a chance to visit their show room and they were able to provide me with the ideal scope and aset scope to view the diamond which I had viewed and was explained about the arrows and hearts. On top of that they would throw in the sarine light performance certificate for the diamond.

In a way with the scopes and sarine light certificate I found that it was a plus for me. But there was a draw back was that not all the diamonds on the site are available in their show room unless ordered from their website before hand.

Anyone care to explain on the sarine light certificate ?
I'm unsure of the light certificate and how it measure the light performance.

Fonder diamond is just a typical online jewelry shop that sells diamonds online. But the difference is they target uneducated people that will fall for these labels without understanding much abt diamonds. They loosely label their diamons as ''Super Ideal cuts''. Their ''Super Ideal Cuts'' are no way near the standards of White Flash or JannPaul.

Btw, Founder diamond's ''Super Ideal cut'' diamonds are also sold on Bluenile, and even Bluenile doesnt dare call them as such.

As KinoChoco mentioned, I would avoid them.
