To be honest i am really no expert and i dont think you will keep looking at the scope too.
Until u point out den i realise it.
But we already paid the deposit and my S/O likes the diamond too.
But if you find out more maybe you can share with us.

Thanks for the heads up, thought you might have highlighted this to them :)

Digged out from old posts, managed to find one color G nearest to my specs. After mounted on settings, cannot really the yellowish tint. :)

This is an old pic of my ring last year. Its a G color too from JP. The super ideal cut does help. My gf compared her diamond with her fren's E color diamond. Ours was sparkling way more and looked even more white that her fren's diamond :D Even her fren commented ours was nicer.

Focus on the cut and the rest I feel is not so important.

Was recently quoted the following at JP:

SIC
1) 0.52caret, VVS2, G: $4000
2) 0.54caret, VS1, G: $4100
3) 0.53caret, VS1, F: $4,100

Octogon
4) 0.527caret, VVS1, F: $4,850

If my budget is about $5k (lower will be preferred), which one would you recommend I take?

Since budget below $5k, I will suggest get the SIC 0.54 ct VS1 G. Cos F and G not much diff and VS1/VS2 is good enough. With simple settings on will be about $4650 😊

Option 1.

I use to think maximise the Budget and choose the biggest.but I realised for carats below 0.9 the difference is not big or cannot be seen thru the naked eyes. Or from a distance. ESP 0.5-0.7 they all look the same. Jp’s Diamonds are all v sparkly which makes the size even less prominent. Unless u prefer the octagon go with the smallest at 4k VVS 2 and G cannot b seen via the naked eyes after being set. Unless u compare and really observe but nobody is gg to do that after it’s being worn.
Juz my personal opinion’ 😊

Thanks. Am tempted by their octagon and solesfora designs but wondering if it’s worth to fork out about 15-20% more than the round shape SIC design, for the same caret. Under the white light, solesfora does look more sparkly but this is only with comparison. Hence, am not sure if it is worth paying about $1k more just for the sparkle..

Unless you’re super rich, just get the SIC with a bigger carat which will be more obvious and worth your money. Don’t spend on the clarity. VS1 or 2 is enough.

How do you feel about the 4 prongs so far? I've read online advice that says 6 prongs is more protective for the diamond against chips/falling out, but personally I just can't get into the prongy look (though the 6 claw prongs do make the diamond look wider/bigger from top) 😂

It's not gonna cause major issues unless you're going to bang your ring hard into something which will cause damage even if it's 6-prong.

My gf likes it. We felt that with the side diamond band, the 4 prongs suits it better. 6 prongs made it look more complicated in a way. The design of the band will play a part too. My gf is quite rough and she knocked the ring a few times already.. so far no issues *touch wood*:s13:

Newbie here. Had a look around soo kee a few days ago and saw that they have a supreme ideal cut range. Seeking advice if anyone knows how it might compare with JP’s super ideal?

Went down to JP yesterday to confirm my 4 prongs orientation cos I’m stucked between the NSEW orientation and 4 corners. Did a comparison and in the end I chose the 4 corner orientation instead of the NSEW. Somehow I don’t really like it to be too round and find the corner orientation more classic. Tried on the wedding band tgt with the engagement ring. Attached a few pic below as well 😊

Somehow the 4 corner orientation looks more natural to me than the NSEW. Its nicer with the wedding band too. THE NSEW prongs looks bigger or maybe its the design.
