PMed you. It's actually a shop that has been discussed before - Poh Kim Jewellery Trading. Quote my earlier post below:

My friend highly recommended it for the price. Never been there to see yet, but truth be told the prices are very very low. They do not provide scopes to examine the diamonds with, aside from maybe the usual hearts and arrows scope. Have heard that the boss is quite reasonable as well, and can do custom designs for settings because they craft the rings inhouse.

The place is an industrial estate along Lower Delta Road I think. If you are not looking for a perfect cut diamond, it may be one of the cheapest places around. If you have an ASET or Ideal scope and go there when they're less busy (not on weekends) to sift through their stock, who knows, might even be able to find a super good value for money well cut diamond!

FYI, I ran a HCA calculation for the GIA cert posted there, and the HCA score is 0.7. Well within super ideal range, but the real test is always the ASET scope though.

There is a very very slight difference in quality IMO, JP is a little bit better / more consistent. But WD is quite willing to source for specific diamonds for you if you have certain requirements. They also do diamond education and have the full range of scopes to view diamonds through. Should visit both JP and WD and see which one is more suitable for your needs. I personally prefer JP but would be partial to WD if budget is a larger concern. Why not visit both, shortlist some diamonds and then make your choice from a larger selection?

Yup, depends on what is a good price/quality compromise for you. Only problem is that most places here don't offer more than a hearts and arrows scope for you to assess the diamonds with.

Went to JP yesterday and was served by Vince. He gave me a very good diamond and casing education. I finally got to experience what all of you guys been sharing.. Very happy with his service. He was very patient and sincere in answering my many qns even though some might some noobish.

I saw their signature diamonds.. solasfera, brella? and the octagon. He showed all of them under different lights and even brought them outdoors without those strong jewelry shop lights for me to see. This really impressed me as it just shows that they have nothing to hide and are confident with their quality. I found the octagon to be the most sparkly of the rest. It's almost on par with the solasfera but sparkles are abit bigger. Needless to say, I chose the octagon

This is the diamond I reserved in the casing I want. It's not set properly yet. Vince just put the diamond on top of the casing to show me the overall effect.

Here is the side view. This is one of the main reason why I chose this design... can see alot of the diamond and the pillars doesn't block the diamond so much. When it is set properly the diamond height will be lower.

I'm thinking of adding more small diamonds at the side part here at the bottom of the main diamond. Sorry for my noob drawing..

This is my attempt at trying to take some artistical shots. haha

The diamond I reserved is a 0.8ct G VS1. I still have an option to change it to a 0.8 F VS1 for $300 more. Do you think I should top up abit for a F? I couldn't see much difference but on the certificate, DEF is in the colorless range and GHIJ is in the near colorless range. So the F will sound and look better on the certificate. You guys think its worth the top up?

I'm planning to use my UOB one card to maximize the cash rebate. FYI, they allowed me to pay my $500 deposit in cash first. When my financial quarter month starts, I can go down and swipe my card and they will return my $500 cash back.

haha yea planning to make an appointment at wd's soon. i've been to jp to view their diamonds. their super ideal cut is indeed more sparkly as compared to the lazare from larry. the salesman at larry quoted me 8k-ish for a 0.7 with a diamond setting on the band! gonna check out the prices at wd before making a decision.

300 only? upgrade it to F color.

Personally i'll upgrade G color to E/F if the price is within 300-500 (if your stone is bigger than 0.7).

6 prong? There is a sample setting that JP has - 4 prong cathedral setting with a tapered knife edge band. That one is very classy IMO. I chose that as the base for my render, with slight modifications to 6 prong and some detailing. Can consider that as an alternative to the tried and tested 6 prong tapered band. The knife edge kinda gives it a more 3D look from the top

yeah 6 prong. do you have a picture that i can view?

my SO prefers something simple and classy. haha. even a slightly twisted band at the stone is too complicated for her.

Then again, from a human eyes, G is good enough too. JP diamonds already have the maximum light performance which will make the diamond look brighter. With a good cut, G color will already look whiter compared to other not so good F color ones.

The extra side diamonds on the side wall is a nice touch. Bear in mind, if your gf plans to wear her wedding band with the proposal ring, it will cover up all the side diamonds on one side. Unless you put on one side only so the other side can see. But it'll be quite funny if she wears the proposal ring only.

$300 to go from G to F, it's a no-brainer, I would do it too

Regarding the side diamonds, do take note that if your gf plans to wear her engagement ring stacked with the wedding band, the side diamonds will inevitably scratch the sides of the wedding band.

IMO, the side diamonds on the shank of the ring should be more than enough bling!

I think the basic rings start around 550 each, eternity band etc should be around 1.1-1.2k by itself. Prices may differ slightly depending on whether you got your engagement ring from them, how much your engagement cost etc I guess.

My phone battery was flat so I didn't take photos of the designs I liked haha. But I think the render should be completed sometime this week or next, will definitely share it here to gather some input when it's out.

But same, I selected a simple and elegant aesthetic instead because I think it is more in line with my gf's personality.

If you ask them for a 4 prong, cathedral cut knife edge setting from their stock ring settings, they should be able to show it to you. I asked for some customisation to change it to a 6 prong and add a small pink sapphire at the base.

If you are set on an octagon, like in the photo you posted, only JP has it btw. If you are after a well-cut round brilliant (GIA triple excellent or AGS 0), there are more options.
