My turn to stress here...

Not sure how much to spend, as while I make a reasonably decent amount of money, she's more of a low key, simpler type of person who will complain that I spend too much money... I know she likes simple, elegant, and round-shapes, but she won't be able to wear it on weekdays due to her job.

Guess it's a bit difficult to work this out since I feel stingy spending less than 10k (roughly my 1 month salary), but she might complain that I'm spending too much (she is roughly 3k, and we're planning to move out of SG) and she won't be able to wear it most of the time...

Why don't you just ask if she wants a big diamond or not?

Recently I have a friend who was being proposed with a gold ring and a rolex.. Haha.. Not the typical diamond but I think it will depreciate lesser.
