This is normal due to the gold content in your ring. 18k white gold, I presume?

Since one of the forummers here brought the idea of inclusion/clarity plots in a GIA cert, anyone knows where can we send our stones for recertification in Singapore to include the plots for diamonds <1 carat?

For $5.9k with the setting, you are really getting a great bang for your buck.

Not sure if that works, but I think if it turns too yellow.. the alternative is to do a "re-plating" (google says).

Anyone else have experience with this?

White gold is naturally yellowish and coated with rhodium which presents the white/silver look....it's normal for white gold to turn yellow after prolonged wearing especially if always in contact with soap. It's just that the plating is wearing off, just re-plate lor.

I believe JP offers 1 or 2 free after sales polish and replating services, If not, i think most jeweller willing to provide re-plating services at a cost of 30-50~

Yup, since polishing removes the surface scratches etc (and of cuz the plating will be gone), they will re-plate the ring back to the original look which includes rose gold if you opted for rose gold ring.

This is also why some people prefer platinum as it will always stay white, so it's good for people who cant be bothered to re-plate their ring. But do note that platinum does look abit dull after couple years (but at least not yellow).

Personally i'll still prefer white gold as the rhodium plating looks better than platinum IMO and generally it should last 1-2 years before wearing off, i'm not sure why his only lasted 6 months...it's either she always wash with harsh chemical or the jeweler didn't do a proper job on plating. Perhaps can complain to love & co and see if can demand a free re-plating.

I believe in asia, JP is the only one that carry Brellia? Their price is reasonable, just head down for a quote and some education.

Their Brellia is patented. So there is only one of a kind in the world.

Also depends on individual skin type and the thickness of the rhodium plating. I have a white gold crucifix which I wore for years but didn't have any yellowing issues, but I gave it to my GF and the rhodium plating wore off very fast.

Anyway like what KinoChoco said, rhodium replating is very cheap.

What they meant is, their white gold are real 18k white gold and not some cheap alloy plated with 18k. All white gold are then plated with rhodium for the 'white' look.

there's no such thing as non-plated white gold. ALL white gold is plated with rhodium. What they probably meant is that it is not a case of the ring being made from a cheaper material (like stainless steel etc, and a layer of gold plated over that). It's a ring made from a white gold alloy and rhodium plated over that for strength, whiteness and shininess.

i kind of remember asking if its rhodium plated and they said no. what i remember for certain is asking if the white gold ring will turn yellowish with use and they said no.

just checked my email. if the ring contains any other thing and my wife has an allergy reaction to the ring. i'll be damm pissed.
