Hi all, got a reply from JP and Canary Diamonds. Anyone has any experience or opinions with Canary Diamonds to share? Both Jewellers are able to work within my budget but JP is slightly (~10%) more expensive for a halo setting with 0.3ct VS2 F main stone.

Sounds about right. JP diamonds are Super Ideal Cuts. Canary Diamonds don't sell Super Ideal cuts but the Ideal cuts to common triple excellent ones.

If you want to compare with Canary, you should compare with House of Hung ones. JP diamonds is a different level.

Ah I see. Thanks for the info. That makes perfect sense. I heard JP service is very good as well.

Ok tough call, but I think if 100-200, I'll top up for it. But personal preference. Haha

I will ask them to keep a lookout if got similar pricing, VS2 grade with bigger carat. Haha.

Anyway what is your thoughts on cushion brilliant vs cushion modified brilliant?

Haha that will depends, the conventional cut doesn't sparkle much, I'll personally chose brellia over those (both me and my partner loves bling diamonds) but of cuz there are people who are into the conventional cut.

It's really up to you and your partner, but I would like to think that most young couples (including 30s) would prefer brellia over conventional cushion

I personally feel that you should get the Brellia only if you are aiming for 0.8ct and above. All the Brellia that I came across thus far has a deep cut of around 71.2%. In turn reducing the face size and spread. (Eg. My 0.9ct Brellia looks like a 0.7ct round)

But then again, there is no denying that you can still find an Ideal or Super Ideal round brilliant anywhere if you search thorough enough. I humbly suggest the octagon diamond for unique cut with a good face size : price ratio.

Bro, I think his asking about conventional cushion vs modified/brellia cushion. That's why I'm only talking about brellia. 😂. Anyway I thought cushion looks bigger than round? I didn't know that brellia face up smaller than round.

Oops sorry. Maybe I didn't get the question right in the first place. But yup. Brellia over conventional cushion any time. It blinks like crazy! 😄

0.9ct Brellia measures around 5.5x5.5mm and 0.9ct round is around 6.2x6.2mm.

I don't know how much 0.9 but 0.7 really around that price. But I have to say lar their 3Ex ideal cut not very good. I viewed four 0.7x 3Ex all have light leakages under the table.

My 0.74 E IF heart shape cost me $4,100.

U got it from Jann Paul? I also target .74
what range is it?

Actually it depends on you.
I finish all my "lesson" in less than 20 minutes.
That's because I read all the blog, the links, the videos and study myself before I go there.

If you go there without any clue, then probably 1.5 hrs for the "lesson" and choosing the design and diamond totally depends on you.
You can sit there for an hour and cant come to a decision.
The easy part is the lesson and choosing a diamond.
The hardest part if you go alone, would be choosing the setting for the ring.
I took 3 times to get it done.

Yes, from JannPaul. Heart shapes a bit cheaper than rounds. Their 3Ex ideal cut rounds can start from $4,000 to $4,900 depending on how excellent the 3Ex is.

If you are like me don't wanna spend a premium for their signature cuts, you need to be patient and wait for a half ideal half super ideal kinda stone to appear. My friend got lucky and found one. Everything fulfils their requirements of a super ideal except the HCA score.

I have decided to get my diamond from Luzure Jewelry...

My cousin went and got a diamond from them under a special program... wow the diamond's light return was painful to the eyes! Their quotations for GIA certified diamonds are also way way lower than what we saw in shops.

They also made a video of the diamond for my cousin!

Congrats on your diamond. :)

Any idea why the prices from Luzure are so low? I am looking through their carousel page now and the prices are almost too good to be true. :s12:

They say because they don't keep stock and keep repeating to my cousin they are selling below 'Rapaport prices', not like the shops that will mark up by so much due to high overheads.

I decided to buy them because I found them to be very honest and trustworthy, not only because my cousin got a wonderful diamond from them, but also because they do not charge gst or hidden charges. What they quote is the price you will pay, that's it.

I just met the boss this afternoon and he is very friendly, thumbs up Mr Daniel Khong if in case you're watching my review for you :D

And also, they use ASET to assess all their diamonds and those in their exceptional light return categeory are not eye-friendly because looking at the sparkle makes my eyes painful :s13:

Do they customise settings too?
