Hi! I am currently building a PC for a friend and have came up with a parts list. A bit sad that he cannot wait for the next gen of processors and gpu, as his current one just K.O.ed on him.

He has a budget of $1,500 and I have came up with a list of parts I think is suitable for him. PC is for gaming purposes, usually Dota 2, Just Cause 3, CS:GO, and can hopefully run some AAA titles, high-ultra settings.

Please advise if I am utilizing the budget well, while trying to maintain a Black and Blue theme.

CPU+MB: i5 6500 + MSI B150M BAZOOKA ($438)
CPU COOLER: STOCK COOLER
GPU: SAPPHIRE R9 390 8GB TRI-X ($540)
PSU: FSP HYDRO G 650W 80+ GOLD ($159)
RAM: G.SKILL RIPJAWS V 2400MHZ CL15 4GB x 2 ($109)
HDD: REUSE
SSD: OCZ 120GB SATA3 TRION 100 SSD 2.5" ($69)
OS: WINDOWS 7 PROFESSIONAL FROM http://list.qoo10.sg/item/MICROSOFT-GENUINE-RETAIL-MICROSOFT-WINDOWS/444017631?sellerview=on ($40), then upgrade to Win10.
CASE: NZXT S340 BLACK ($169)

TOTAL: $1,524

Your replies are greatly appreciated!

What casing he is using currently?

If the casing is still functioning, can consider to up the ram to 2 * 8 Gb.

He's using an old Acer predator pc in the past. After going to the IT show he got very tempted with the case Aftershock was using so I recommended the nzxt s340

8GB of RAM is enough for gaming. You can change it to Kingston Value RAM 2x4GB at $70.

can consider this:
cpu and mobo:i5 6400 and b150m-d3h $432
graphics card:r9 390 tri-x $540
ram:g.skill ddr4 2400 8gb valueram $77(black pcb)
ssd:zotac premium 240gb(lazada)$98.10+3*
psu:seasonic m12ii 620w $115
case:nzxt s340 $169
os:windows 7/8/10(reddit)$30
total:$1464.10
*after lazada app mastercard monday 10% off($25 max)
all prices not quoted are from pcthemes. do ask around for price quotes and discount before buying.
it's a black only rig though, if you want blue you'll have to add some led strip/blue led fan.

Hi just asking why don't you consider getting i5-4460 + Asrock H81M instead? Skylake is not really much faster than Haswell. Can save up almost $100.

8GB is good but some games can be quite demanding like BF4, can use over 8GB RAM. Go the extra money can go for 16GB of Value ram ($55 x 2)

Skylake is more for future proof, since he has the money. Just get 8gb enough now, more games need over 8gb ram then upgrade.

i get where you're coming from, but if in the future he wants to upgrade (lets say 2 years time) at least most probably can reuse the ram sticks or cpu/motherboard. save the hassle of overhauling since DDR3 and LGA1150 will be overthrown soon.
