Hi guys,

I'm a Financial Consultant from Prudential. Chanced upon this thread while googling up financial news. See that many of you have concerns regarding the benefits of savings plans. Am thinking of organizing a mini seminar/get-together to address queries on PruWealth and/or endowment policies if you are keen. As PruWealth is pretty new in Singapore, only launched a few months back over here, would love to share with those who are interested. If you are, do reply in the affirmative. Depending on the headcount, this seminar specially for forum users may or may not proceed. :)

Cheers

Would rather you just share the questions you frequently get right here, in the forums. No need to waste money on seminars ;)

Or if you're genuine, you can even start a FAQ thread for people to shoot questions at you. Then everyone can participate, no need to be limited by the attendees of the seminar

Just my 2cents out of my $480.

Obviously in a seminar setting, he can control the agenda, making it more one sided. In a public forum like this, there will be much more scrutiny, making it harder to sell the plan.

Hi all!
To address your queries..
Minimum Monthly premium for PruWealth is $204. 2% discount for premiums paid yearly. Premium payment terms of 5, 10, or 20years. Capital guaranteed at 20th policy year onwards. For those who dislike paying regular premiums over the span of a few years, you can make a lump sum advanced premium deposit, with an interest of ~1.75%.
AhPek_lion, you are right. You can hold the policy up to 100 age next birthday, and pass it two generations down. In essence, you can use it flexibly as a retirement annuity to supplement CPF Life payouts or as a legacy for your kids/grandchildren. It can serve as a passive income instrument if you hold it long enough to leverage on its potentially high returns. Past 10years annualized returns has been 5.2%.
Mcylo, there should never be an obligation to purchase the policy whether in online or offline discussion, unless you are convinced it is a suitable plan for you. :) Ultimately, financial planning is a matter of great importance to your life, and requiring some level of commitment, should be in accordance to your needs and belief system.
Blengend, seminars have its benefits of efficient discussion in a matter of 1-2 hours. Plus questions and answers tend to not be repetitive, as opposed to a thread where posts can become so many that the earlier ones are not read by later users, who pose similar questions that have already been addressed. Besides, the role of consultants is a balance between providing information on products and looking at individual situations and addressing specific needs, rather than purely being an information counter. :)

Anfield, I am a "she". You are not wrong that seminars are purposed, with the aim of informing, helping, and getting you to think. However, your takeaway from the session is within your control. :)

To all, believe you are here because you are genuinely curious about wealth accumulation. :) So hopefully there are no "shooting" of questions for its own sake, but that whatever is discussed becomes constructive to your planning. :)

Maybe you can first learn to paragraph out your post. A chunk like this will turn readers off.

AhPek_Lion and Limster, this information is not available on the e-brochure from our commercial website. I just checked. It is, however, printed on the Customer Engagement Kit only available to Consultants. :)

Not sure why it's not on the brochure. It is indeed reflected as 5.2% on my end. However, it is always important to note that past few years annualized returns are not indicative of future returns.

:s8: have u questioned prudential on the figures?

Not that i want to be nasty but prudential is well known to declare low bonuses to policy holders in their BI even @ 4.75%. For pruwealth, internal rate is 3.8%...nowhere near 5.2%

2014 report
http://www.prudential.com.sg/export...es/downloads/reports/abu/2014/RPL_English.pdf

2013 report
http://www.prudential.com.sg/export...sg/resources/downloads/others/RPL_English.pdf

These are the two I could find off the site itself. I don't see a reason to doubt that the fund is getting 5.2% over the past 10 years. This is a highly regulated industry and people will be sure to sue the pants off Prudential if they were to make a misrepresentation of how the funds are performing.

Take note that funds performing at 5.2% does not translate to policy holders getting 5.2%.

You'd like to know that PruWealth is a new plan and is very competitive in terms of the projections. And before you say that projections are just projections, just for the sake of, we project at 4.75% so that when we meet this long term investment returns on our side, we will give as per projected to policy holders.

Edit: To give you more info, PruWealth of a 20 year premium term are giving projected values of 3.26% CAGR at year 20.

PruWealth of a 5 year premium term are giving projected values of 3.87% CAGR at year 20.

Basically, if the fund grows 4.75%, the investor gets 3.26% or 3.87% and Prudential takes the rest. If the fund grows 10%, Prudential has not said how much it will give to investor and what it will keep for itself. Meaning it could give the investor 5% only if it wanted -> easy way to backtest, look for the years the fund grew more than 10% - how much bonus was given to the investor.

One can compare to TM VIP Infinite, which has no dividends for the first 5 years, but year 6 onwards, will give bonus of 4% if fund grows 4.75%. But the same reservation applies. If the fund grows 10%, do you get most of this, or does the insurer only give you a much smaller bonus and keep the rest?

Compare to buying your own ETF, if STI grows 10%, you get to keep all the gains.
