New to HWZ here and I hope I'm on the right forum thread for this! I'm hoping someone might know where I can get my PS1 console (from the 90s) fixed up. It still starts up and shows the welcome screen with the logo, but can't read disk contents. It also been jail broken before (had it done at a game shop that's no longer around) not sure if that's relevant info lol but hey giving this a shot here

If you just want to play PS1 games, there are more economical and better methods now. The best method is with an emulator since it can produce way better graphics than the PS1 is capable of.

Knowing what kind of jailbreak is important since some target the drive directly, others target the control of the drive, others bypass and disable the drive entirely.

Depending on your end goal the solutions are endless. There are even HDD kits to replace the CDROM drive.

Try put a bit of oil on the motor + shaft that is moving the reading led , could be dry up and stuck.
The motor could also be dead due to age.

You can watch some youtube ps1 repair video, to see if they have the same issue with yours. Sim Lim Square have 2 console shop that might be able to troubleshoot and repair for you, the game shop in B1 or RetroNtuz on the 4 floor.

Last year I took out my PSone form storage and it can't display anything but disc is spinning, so I watch youtube repair video and learn to fix my issue myself. Had to go to Sim Lim Tower buy some capacitor of same value and replace them.

SG labour and part fee not cheap, not sure what is your budget, but i think with the money you can buy a good android handheld already
