GPU now are so expensive that i am looking for a option that is the best value for money.

Option A:
for 4k Gaming
PS5 - $670
PlayStation Plus (Essential, to play online) - $70.90 per yr

cost count to 8yr:

1st yr to 6yr ps5 cost = $670 + $496.30 = $1166.30
7yr and 8 yr get ps6 = say cost 1k + 141.80 = $2308.10

total is at least $2308.10 (depend on ps plus sub but can cancel and sub when needed if i need to play online)

Option B:
for 1440p to 4k Gaming
PC: 9800x3d ($729) + X870E (>$450) + 32GB Ram (>$150) + PSU 1k watt (>$280) + cpu cooler + GPU 9070XT (1.3k)+ fans + case = At least $3.5k

total cost for a gaming pc is $3.5k to last 8 yr

Option C:
for 1080p Gaming
PC: 7600 ($283) + B650 (>$260) + 32GB Ram (>$150) + current PSU + current cpu cooler + GPU b580 ($420 )+ fans + case = At least $1.5k

with
for 4k Gaming
PS5 - $670 + PS6 - $1000 = $1670
PlayStation Plus (Essential, to play online) - only when needed to play online since there pc

total cost for a budget gaming pc + console is $ 3.1k

anyone any feedback? which option is the best value for money?

Ryzen 7 7700 + B650M + 32GB DDR5 CL30 ram is about 630 in carousell

and as for your X3D build, you don't need X870E or 1kW PSU

even i replace x870E and 1kW psu, gaming pc will still the most expensive of the 3 option and need to last 8yr cause ps 5 is 6 or 7yr life cycle to balance out the cost

me got plenty of free epic and steam game so i thought to add option C.

not sure if optionC at 1080p gaming is a good idea or goes for option B to last 8yr which i believe is hard

Deepseek R1 Analysis:

Value Analysis of Gaming Options Over 8 Years

Option A: Consoles (PS5 + PS6)

Total Cost Estimate: ~$2,308 (with continuous PS Plus)
Pros:

  • Lower upfront cost: Initial PS5 + PS6 upgrade is cheaper than a high-end PC.
  • Optimized for 4K gaming: Consoles offer hassle-free performance with minimal maintenance.
  • Exclusive titles: Access to PlayStation-only games.
    Cons:
  • Recurring PS Plus fees: Adds ~$70/year for online play (can be reduced by subscribing only when needed).
  • Less versatility: No productivity/PC features.
Value: Best for budget-focused gamers who prioritize simplicity and exclusives.

Option B: High-End Gaming PC

Total Cost Estimate: $3,500
Pros:

  • Superior performance: Targets 1440p–4K gaming with high settings.
  • Versatility: Doubles as a workstation for other tasks (streaming, editing, etc.).
  • No online fees: Free multiplayer on most platforms (except specific games).
  • Long-term savings: Cheaper games, mods, and no console upgrades.
    Cons:
  • High upfront cost: Most expensive option.
  • Potential upgrades: GPU/CPU may need refreshing after 4–5 years for cutting-edge performance.
Value: Ideal for enthusiasts who want top-tier performance and PC flexibility.

Option C: Budget PC + Consoles

Total Cost Estimate: ~$3,100
Pros:

  • Hybrid flexibility: Access to console exclusives and PC gaming.
  • Lower initial PC cost: Targets 1080p gaming.
    Cons:
  • Compromised experience: Budget PC may struggle with newer games, risking mid-cycle upgrades.
  • Split ecosystem: Risk of higher game costs (buying titles on both platforms).
Value: A middle-ground compromise, but risks higher long-term costs if upgrades are needed.

Key Considerations

  1. Game Costs: PC games are often cheaper, with frequent sales and no subscription fees for online play.
  2. Upgrade Costs: High-end PCs (Option B) may last longer without upgrades, while budget PCs (Option C) might need GPU updates.
  3. Usage Needs: Consoles (Option A) lack productivity features; PCs add versatility.
  4. PS6 Price Speculation: If the PS6 launches closer to $600 (historically plausible), Option A becomes even cheaper.

Final Recommendation

  • Best Value for Money: Option A (Consoles)
    • Lowest total cost, optimized for 4K gaming, and minimal hassle.
    • Reduce PS Plus costs by subscribing only when needed (potential savings of ~200–200–300).
  • Alternative for Enthusiasts: Option B (High-End PC)
    • Justifies higher cost with better performance, versatility, and game savings over time.
  • Avoid Option C: The hybrid approach risks higher expenses from upgrades or dual-platform game purchases, offering less value than dedicated options.
TL;DR: Stick with consoles (Option A) for affordability and ease. Invest in a high-end PC (Option B) only if you prioritize performance and versatility. Skip the hybrid (Option C).

gaming console never been cheap. the controller accessories games subscription etc.... is really not for u....i swear. People said ps5 console with graphic card is cheap..... but 1 game title already $100 liao.
i buy 1 game title $100, i sell it as second hand.... can only recoup $50. lol

computer is the cheapest. gpu is expensive.... but chiu save a lot on the games if chiu ahem. can even use emulator.

Do you play older games? PS1 - PS4 era games you cannot play on PS5 whereas PC can play them.
